Marsh 1 v Collingwood

Didn't watch the match but going by this thread we're screwed. Club seems to have rested on it's laurels rather than recruit some gun players. Our kids are useless on their own. Losing Blake will seriously hurt us.

By all accounts this years draft is a very good one so we should seriously consider doing what's best for the clubs future rather than limp into a top 4 finish and luckily draw an interstate club for our 2020 Premiership. It'll mean nothing.
I did watch the game and it was certainly disappointing for a few reasons but imo it is way too early and over-reacting to be making big calls like this. Damien and the other coaches won't be panicking.

Did I hear you know who, say pies mark, went 12 metres, just the required distance.?? :ban

Hard to say what exactly happened in this game. I believe they went harder at the start and we eased into it. At no stage do I remember seeing us go into our usual forward handball game, hard to tell from the TV if that was because the Pies wouldn't allow us or we just didn't do it. St Nick and Dunstall both said that the way we play require high effort and energy and a practise game is not the time to be going a million miles an hour. They seemed to get the rub of the green from the umps. Don't think they thought or wanted to beaten by 40 points, but I don't think it's panic stations just yet.

Exactly,

We are in the business of winning premierships not trial matches. We would be trialling lots of things other than players.

We're taking the game to the next level. Big picture stuff.

Lol, cream it next week with our full team back and all of a sudden we're happy again. FMD!

Rinse repeat. Lol
I don’t care if we lose next week too.

Balta gets time there will be upside. Garth is a No from me, spoilt big Dave twice in first quarter, just not up to it never will be

Noah gets another game next week against the Gee Whiz for development but for mine unless he has a strong game on an opposition key tall (Cameron, Himmelberg or Finlayson) he wouldnt be playing KPD against the Blues in Round 1 for mine after today's effort, hes got a long way to go, plus McKay and Curnow are both likely to miss the opener at this stage.

He has the basic tools physically, but seemingly lacks the concentration and the ability to read the ball in play and position himself, as he often gets caught out under the ball and out of position.

The problem is if we have to shift Broad back to defence hopefully he hasn't shed too much weight or size to play as a tall defender when needed.

Broady might not want to get too excited about being able to gallop around up the ground as he might find himself having to go back sooner rather than later.

Sounds like the usual treatment from the umpires especially against Collingwood, the umpires faves.

Bit disappointing the young players didn't show much, I would think this is their opportunity to show something. I was wondering a bit when the reports said Ross came back having lost a lot of weight, wonder if he has got it a bit wrong.

I reckon our kids would have looked a bit better if we had Chimp, Dusty, Sheds, Houli, Jack and Lynch playing. They'd be relegated to supporting actors and have less attention on them.

Ok
Just watched the game.
Good run around for the players.

it’s more about getting game time
Into them or these games wouldn’t exist.

there weren’t any performances for the junior brigade that had me pencilling any names in.

as far as I’m concerned, the r1 team is almost unchanged from the GF.

Good things:

game time for players.
Escape unscathed
Kick up butt
Only 10 pts behind in 4th Q.
pickett (Hes a beast).
Higgins (he’s back).

I thought Garth spoilt well.

The ball was comng in pretty hot, as we weren;t applying anywhere near our trademark pressure, so i'd cut the tall defenders some slack on that basis.

At the end of the day, with 10 minutes to go, we're 10 points down with equal forward 50 entries, no Jack, Lynch or Dusty in the forward line. That's pretty much the whole arsenal not there! If i was the Pies, i'd be wondering what the score line would be with equal forward 50's if they had to stop that trio.

They were missing players too, but not a load all at one end of the ground. Still had good book ends. We were basically going in with a bazooka, and nothing in the barrel.

We can’t get size 12 shoes to fit size 8 feet.
it would have been nice if one of our juniors went full beast mode because the players you mentioned above are all running the clock down.

but they’ve all got an opportunity next week.

Should've seen Figgy before the game on Friday scrambling around the crowd looking for signatures and selfies.

Leaving the work building, I had to zig zag the crowd and purposefully bumped into him a bit (he's my height which I was surprised). Seriously thinks he's the best.

How many signatures did figman get?
He would have been upset Cotch and Martin werent there.
Two great dual premiership signatures for his scrap book.

Dunstall just said another club tried to recruit Pickett over the off season but it didn’t happen only due to lack of salary cap space.

Surely that’s not right. Pickett was always tied to us wasn’t he?
This confirms the moronic media ..... there was a short piece in the "gossip" column in the Sun during the week saying how one recruiting guy was still upset that his recommendation to recruit Pickett in the MID SEASON draft was over ruled by his C EO on salary cap grounds.

So the silverback Dunstall reads it or more likely some drop kick mate tells him the story and he Relates it to his audience as quoted above. Moron effn moron.

Degoey was the difference in the last quarter. I can't figure out how he wasn't playing on Friday night instead.

Given all rookies are on the same pay, it would've been a club with a) a mid-season pick, which b) passed on the pick. Leaves Hawthorn, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Bulldogs, Essendon.

Then again, if the CEO knocked it on the head prior to Pickett hurting his finger two days before the draft, it probably means nothing.
