At least we will finally see a proper clean out!! Welcome aboard HARDwick!! ;D

Settle Fuddy ol son.

Lets wait and see first, remember unbridled enthusiasm and unhealthy expectation has no place on the Dark side.

Now HARDWICK get fair dinkum and shred a dozen off the list for starters.

Sorry you are right. Damian was involved in a team which finished top 1999 through to 2004

Some of those teams missed GFs. In fact Essendon in 1999 and Port in 2002 and 2003.

Apologies for the brain fade!!

if he takes short cuts like those before him then the support will quickly fade

If so, at least we don't wait another half a decade to see it.

First time I've been excited about Richmond since the 10 minute mark of the first quarter in round one. Hardwick was my preferred pick all along so I'm wrapt. What do I actually know about him - nuthin! (I was also glad we got Wallace though :hihi)

Time will tell whether he is the right man for the job, or whether another coach gets caught in the vortex on the corner of Punt Road and Brunton Avenue.

At least this time it appears the coach has a football department which is better resourced, and the club seems aware that we are a long way off and significant changes need to be made to the list. I suspect Hardwick will be given time to clean out the playing list and have a proper rebuild for once. At least I hope this is the case.

For this reason, I think he enters the job on much better base than most of his predecessors.

Wow must have been the viagra. I was excited out by the 3 minute mark.

The great thing about Hardwick is that while he was at Hawthorn, the 1st rule about recruiting players was that they were great kicks - hopefully he saw what an effect this had at Hawthorn, & will stick with the same selection process when it comes to recruiting in the draft.

Once again I will place my faith in the club that they chose wisely after a very thorough process.

I didn't care either way, but am rapt to get Dimma.

I was hoping for Hinkley but have complete and utter faith in the process and if it has determined that Hardwick is the best possible avaliable coach for the RFC then he is!

SO GO FOR IT DAMIEN, GRAB THIS CLUB BY THE SCRUF OF THE NECK AND GET IT TO THE POSITION WHERE IT BELONGS :cupgold

VIVA LA PROCESS
VIVA LA HARDWICK
VIVA LA RICHMOND FOOTBALL CLUB
:clap

Congratulations Damien on taking the reins of this great club. It will be a long road ahead and it wont be all smooth sailing but as long as a proper plan is followed then we might just see the giant finally awake.
The re-birth has just begun!

I voted negative in the poll. >:D The reality is that we'll never know if Hinkley would have been better or worse than Hardwick because he won't be coaching the Tiges in 2010. Without having the benefit of the two candidate's interview transcripts, I would have preferred Hinkley.

Why? Just a hunch........

Hinkley's been at Geelong - most dominant side of past 3 years. He's been under Thompson, a coach I respect for his ability to coach, not work the media (a la Wallets). Hardwick has been trying to become a senior coach and based on the jobs he's been linked to Essendon, Melbourne, North, Port Adelaide and of course Richmond it seemed to me he didn't care who gave him that opportunity. Are we to believe that he could coach any side? Hinkley on the other hand just went for Richmond.

Having said all that - I'm happy that we don't have Wallets or even Jade the Blade and think either man will do a better job. I do hope Jade gets to stay on under Hardwick as the players like him and he has a lot of footy knowledge. I also hope Hardwick gets to coach soon to see if I was right - sort of.

The most important appointment in Richmond's near future is Recruitment Manager/List Manager and his staff. Our recruiting has been awful for 25 years. Not even Alex Ferguson could have brought success to Richmond with the cattle we've had in that time.

One final point - The Geesh has been the most successful Richmond coach of the last 25 years (51% win ratio over 2 years), but he never gets the plaudits.
