Hardwick hasn't just learnt from Sheedy, Williams and Clarkson, he has learnt from Pelchen about how to rebuild a broken list. That is the type of experience we need the most.

So true.

Even better.

Patience my friends.

We've seen that word all too much but I don't expect miracles in the short term.

Now we need to get some cattle.

Very good point MM.

Lets hope he doesn't make the same mistake that other coaches have made in the past and that is over rate our list.

I just hope Hardwick doesn't become a Beavis.

You've got 3 years Damien to improve our Club............All the best Son!

I thinbk we might be seeing the dawn of a new nickname for Hardwick. Beavis.

Reserve judgement on Hardwick - hope it's a positive move and have an inkling that it will be but not ready to declare we will be finals contenders anytime soon. At least there appears some light ahead far from the darkness that was the Wallace-Miller dynasty.

To me, Damien Hardwick has been my preferred candidate for the job probably since late last year.

However, regardless of my gutfeel. I couldn't be certain based on the fact that I didn't know Hardwick nearly well enough.

It is good to see that a thorough selection process has corroborated my initial thoughts.

I hope the Tiges now go to work to build the supporting structures that Damiem will need to make himself effective.

To me, the Director Of Coaching will be important, as well as the Development, Specialist & Fitness & Conditioning Coaches too.

Because out main areas of focus should be How to:
1. Improve at a Strategic level (Long term)
2. Gain earlier development of what is a list heavily positioned in the 18-23yo age bracket.
3. Improve the Football Skills & Nous of our players.
4. Get our boys to run for 30 minutes per quarter, instead of 15 minutes per quarter.
5. Match our opposition physically.

Happy with the appointment, but not joining the love in just yet. After being burnt a few times in the past by having coaches promise to change things and then when they leave its still the same.

Phantom, good post - reflects the thoughts of many PRE's .

Everyone says Damien is a hard nut. This will mean he will no doubt rip shred off the players when they don't follow the plan. I just hope the players don't spit the dummy and create a regime to oust him just like they did with Wallass.

His biggest challenge - a player group unaccountable for their own performances and enjoy no scrutiny whatsoever - good luck
