In regards to Richo

Hardwick - "There's no sentiment in football"....

Nice ;D

Did he say that? I read that he said the following...

On Richardson, Hardwick said he was an outstanding talent.

"I still probably think he's in the top two to three players in this club and what is he, 34?," he said.

"I know when Hawthorn play him the first thing we say is "what the hell are we going to do with Richo?"

Welcome Damien and good luck.
I wonder if you should suggest sitting in the box as an observer on Friday night?

Doubt it, though the cheese sandwhich could do with some vegimite.

I voted positive.

Without being in the inner workings of the "process" none of us can really knock the appointment. I trust that such an extensive result, that essentially got two or our three preferred candidates through (FIGJAM) was able to produce a result that's good for oour footy club.

Hard by name and harder by nature

SOME people mellow with time – Damien Hardwick doesn't appear to be one of them.

The new Tigers coach forged a 207-game career, with premierships at two clubs, on the back of being one of the hardest and most ruthless defenders in the game, and he's bringing that to Punt Rd.

"If blokes aren't competitive, or they haven't got a strong determination to succeed, they won't be coming to this footy club."

Very pleased with the appointment.

Hardwick has been associated with 3 AFL Premiership sides - 2 of them as a player and one of them as an Assistant Coach. Accordingly he knows what a successful culture is and hopefully can mould the culture at Punt Rd into one that befits a successful and winning culture.

He was a very hard at it player who loved to compete and got the best out of himself. This is something that has been lacking at RFC for the past decade and hopefully as a coach Hardwick can demand and get this out of the RFC players.

Played under one of the all time great coaches in Kevin Sheedy so is well schooled. He has passion, energy and seems 100% committed to the cause and knows that hard yards will be required before the Club is turned around.

And the great thing is that a long and rigorous process identified him as the best candidate to take the Club forward so I am confident that based on his credentials and the process that Hardwick is the man to restore the fear and pride in the great Richmond Football Club. Bring it on.

d.h was my choice but,,,, it will be interesting to revisit this thread about rd 9 next year,

I heard on the news that culling starts next Monday.
I hope thats not true, certainly not from a delisting standpoint anyway
Our club needs to learn to delist players AFTER the trade period

It's probably just the assessment of who will go by trade or delist.

Hardwick needs time to get to know the players before making decisions.

I think Monday would be those who have decided to retire. Others I think could be close. I would hope CC and team have their assesments written and ready for Beavis's weekend reading. He'd obviously have some say but the bulk of the player review would be near complete.

Yeah he needs time for assessment but Simmo and Brown are probably the most nervous at the moment.

I hope we trade as many as possible before delisting.

Agree, it would be better to have pick 62 in our pocket in return for Hughes and not use it, then want another pick and not have it.
