Cars

Tis a good thread, but I can't help but wonder what it would be like without the number one contributor: LT77.
You LT77 are a true car............ dude(?).

Absolute beast, and would've certainly given the odd GTO driving redneck a run for his money. 8)

Olds. Mmmm.... supoib. That's a dirty car. The white's very neat. What colour?

:p

my other car - I'm lucky enuff to have 3 - is a Renault Clio Sport and for an old man reliving his younger days its the best car I've ever driven - bar none. And this includes Bimmers, Jags, Ferraris and a host of other exotics. The Clio brings a smile to the dial just driving up the shops.

*** Best of all its black with yellow car seat covers ***

Hey Grandpa, I have heard and read great things about the Clio Sport. Never driven one. I love the whole concept of these pocket hatch's from Europe that absolutely fly. Fast, light and comfortable. Ever driven a WRX? After half an hour in traffic, I was so over it. Perhaps I'm the wrong shape.

So Poppa, tell us about some of your previous toys...".....Ferraris and a host of other exotics....."

mmm.  lets see - in order from day 1
jag mk 7 till it broke a clutch and too many $$$ to fix
eh holden till it was nicked
morris 850 temporary transport
Humber Hawk - safe and boring
Cortina GT - dangerous and boring
XB 351 Fairmont - company car
Rambler Javelin 343 cubic inch - wild and awesome sound.  Mine was the original. The latter 360 c.i. was arguably the ugliest car ever sold in this country.
Volvo 244 - boring and boring
Renault 17TS Gordini - in my top 5
Lancia HPE - marvellous donk
Ferrari 308 -
Fiat X1/9
Mazda RX7
Another Ferrari 308 - u need 2 because 1 is always getting fixed
BMW 323i - typical german - does everything efficiently with the panache of a toilet block
Alfa 33 - wonderful electrics (sic) - once turned the wipers on and the windows went down!
Sigma wagon with 400K's on the clock - slumming it during my pauper era
Renault 12 - very under rated and even more under powered
VP Commodore
VR Commodore - starting to exit my pauper period
VT Series 2 Calais 5.7 litre optione dup to $60K
another Fiat X1/9 - 2nd hand
Renault Clio Sport

I'm sure I've missed a few - the old brain cells die rapidly in the last qtr of your life (like RFC)

My top 5 favourites - in order
1 Fiat X1/9 -
2 Renault ClioSport - an amazing piece of kit at a bargain price.  Take a test drive and see what I mean.
3 Ferrari 308 - the first one I had without the pollution crap - the 2nd one was junk.  once did 245kmh at 3AM on the south eastern free way (Sssshhhh!!)  The car wanted more but I ran out of courage.
4 Rambler Javelin (a competitor for mustang and corvette and IMO much better looking).  Unbelievable sound.
5 Renault 17TS Gordini - a very intimate car and an involving drive.

Thanks for your question Michael as its brought back some fond memories.

Good call on the Rambler Javelin poppax. They were fast.....and exceedingly ugly.

I for one am not really interested in Cars, though I have found lately that there are some good-lookin Cars on the road. Like my Avatar, its a 59 Chevy Impala done up (by me) to look like a richmond car, it is easily my favourit car.

Here is a list of my top 5 cars:

59 Chevy

Nissan 350Z

Delorian

Lamboghini

Any Corvette!

Great cars are those, in this thread i would like to discuss others opinions on cars such as these.
Hey HAyNe$ i have a freind who has five 59 Chevs but unfortunatly between all 5 only 1 is in running order, all of his mates call him batman.

I couldn't go to the motorshow, but I was dying to go there (had to stay at my aunty's house while my family went to Port Fairy Folk Festival.
And the karma thing is because the majority of people on this forum hate me (I don't even meen to upset them :'()!

hmm, im happy with my car, its way better than my other car which im trying to sell.

i got a 2000 VX executive, its manual and hasnt even done 40,000. i love it. hasnt given my any problems, run smoothly...

my other car that im trying to sell is an 85 ford lazer tx3 turbo. its a limited edition sports model apparently. its runs well but its size made it impractical for me coz i do lots of driving and need lots of space for equipment and passengers.

i also have a hr waiting to be done up. if only i could find the time.

Pops great collection of rides over the years. Lots of variation.
Interesting that you have the X19 as the head of the pack.
Not familair with the 17TS Gordini, how did this one differ to the standard renault 17?

The standard 17Gordini had a 4 speed box with carby's.  The TS had 5 speed with Fuel injection and about 20Kw more power.  Its direct competitor was the 2 litre Alfa GTV.
As for the Fiat X1/9 - its very much a personal thing.  Most people don't rate it - too small - no power - noisy - rusts - uncomfortable.
But if go-cart like handling is your thing then you'll love it.  The only car that comes close to matching its cornering ability is the Lotus Elise.  Its just a sh*tload of fun.  And I figure if I really have to drive then I might as well have fun doin it! Even a trip to the shops to buy milk is an adventure.

Talking of rust, I once owned a gtv.
Had a mate who's little sister pushed an X19 very hard. I agree with the gokart like handling comment.
