Never really been a fan of Australian made cars - as the workmanship when compared to the European or Jap counterparts is not up to standard

Terrible statement RT, the Aust made camry actually beat the japanese manufactured unit for total build quality. It is now officially the best built Toyota in the world. You may also find that many other aust manufactured vehicles are now more than comparable to anything else in the world. The auto industry is now looking to Aust for benchmarking in release to market program timing inclusive of quality.

I'll jump of my lofty soapbox now ;D

Great thread guys :clap

.
My other favorite cars include:
Ford GT 40 my absolute dream car.
An Mustang Shelby,or Cobra Shelby.
57 Chev pillorless
Corvette Stingray
Torana xu-1....Sounds like Snakeys had some fine iron in his time :clap

Struggs
Are you talking about the original GT 40 or the new one?

You cant beat the original of anything I reckon Michael.
I am impressed with the replicas that those guys from Dromana are building, but an Original GT40 would command up to ten times their amount.

I am very much a Ford man and currently drive a 1997 EL XR6. My favourite cars are the BA GT-P, which in my opinion, is one awesome machine. Also love the XB-GT and XY-GT.

Went to the motor show the other night and was very impressed with the silver Mercedes V12 convertable with a bargain price tag of $385,000. Also, the Ford Focus convertable was an eye- catcher.

Hey LeboTiger, could you give some advice on the Mitsubishi Lancer VRX. I'm not a fan of Jap cars, but after driving a standard Lancer recently on holidays, I was very much impressed. I could only imagine the VRX to be even better as it's a sportier model and looks more impressive. Is it true they don't have enough much power?

Some-one in this thread queried the power of the RX8 - it has heaps - but only if you rev its head off.

......and a V8 thirst of the premium motion potion

Also heard that the RX8 auto loses 37kw from the manual

the ch lancer vrx gets 16" alloys, lowered slightly sports tuned suspension and tweaked chassis. black interior(better than the drab grey in the base es and ls models) sportsmode tiptronic but the same sohc 2.0 4 cylinder as the base models. a little bit wheezy. i can suggest a new exhaust for a little better performance or it wont be too long before mitsubishi bring a 2.0 mivec model with better economy, 130kw and variable valve timing.

Hey Lebo, the new engine.....2.0 mivec. is that still sohc?

yep, i have asked many times why mitsubishi persist with sohc while their competitors make dohc and the apparent reason is reliability. the only mits product with dohc is the EVO8. built for performance. even the V6's are sohc per bank

I thought so, seems kind of dumb when dohc is so common
So this new Mivec engine gets variable valve timing, must have a few other goodies to produce such an increase in power?

You say u have a lot 2 do with mitsubishi's?........Please explain>?

ohh, now i know what your talkin about.

public forum not the right place to discuss it

my other car - I'm lucky enuff to have 3 - is a Renault Clio Sport and for an old man reliving his younger days its the best car I've ever driven - bar none. And this includes Bimmers, Jags, Ferraris and a host of other exotics. The Clio brings a smile to the dial just driving up the shops.

*** Best of all its black with yellow car seat covers ***

Thanks Lebo. Will take it on board. How many kilowatts is the VRX?

With respect to your venerable family's business, Struggs, when this thread veered from GTOs to Soob Forresters it was a terrifying case of oversteer. Lost it. Totalled. ;D

These Forresters. Can you get teeth decals for the grille? Might be the answer. With bad paint and bullet holes. Still I suppose it beats the sh!t out of the tram.  :help

yes,right you are Dyer'ere.

When I was living in Colorado I had one of these.

Absolute beast, and would've certainly given the odd GTO driving redneck a run for his money. 8)
