Winderlich a Tiger?

nikolasmia said:
low risk in that he will cost us peanuts and he is good enough to be in our best 22 easily, low risk because he will walk in and be the 2nd quickest player on the list. This one is a no brainer
The cost us peanuts is the big question. Remember we are now going to have to deal with Dodoro. It would be easier to sell ice to an Eskimo than get a fair and reasonable trade with this bloke.

He'd be OK if we were a top 4 or 6 primed for a flag, but we're not. Why doesn't he just walk out and claim free agency?
He can't walk out because he is contracted.

Chappy is 3 years older and has lost a yard, their seasons were also comparable in terms of impact.
Don't forget Chappy would be on considerable more money than Winderlich.

Yep, good example, Dew fulfilled an immediate need and was only ever expected to be around for 2 seasons, Winderlich is no different. Clubs do this all the time when the window is open, we lack pace and we can potentially get a quality player on the cheap.
Yet we let Matty White walk last year??....now we're trying to get some pace back with a guy that retired a few months ago then changed his mind....Stuart dew was surrounded by a host of now premiership players....if we think we are in that window we are kidding ourselves...

Surely they can waive that contract clause. He only triggerred it months ago with a late decision to play on for 1 more year. This wouldn't cost the Bummers too much.

Another Bomber wants out.

Emma Quayle has also reported that Essendon's 2011 first round pick, Elliot Kavanagh has requested a trade from the Dons.

Both are not long term options and Winderlich's durability makes Chapman's seem amazing.

You must kidding about comparable impact too. If not... :spin

Now he'd be worth looking at.

Good to see the domino effect finally in motion. :hihi

If we were top 4 then maybe. we are miles off top 4. need to get games into McDonough, Gordon, Lloyd and kids we draft this year.

seeing that the bomber ship is starting to sink we should give Heppell an offer he can't refuse.

Ok. So why aren't we chasing him?

Absolute dud of a pick that bloke was. Could see it coming a mile away, after a few whispers about him as a junior. Wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, doesn't have the ticker to make it.

Straight swap for Conca + 2 picks. ;D

Geez...if only he was 4 years older.

Whatever your thoughts on the White situation, pace is urgently required & Winderlich fits the bill. Dew wasn't surrounded by premiership players either, Hawthorn were just in the throes of scaling the ladder, much like we are now.

Winderlich was a matchwinner in the latter part of the season, played some outstanding football, easily comparable to Chapman's best.

Winderlich can ask the Bombers for a release and the AFL can give them compo picks apparently.

The problem for Essendon when asking for a trade for a gun player is that no-one wants to go there given the uncertainty and apparently insanity at the coaching and board levels.

We are very likely to get him as he doesnt want to play under hird and he will retire if they dont let him go so welcome to tigerland

Because he ain't worth chasing.

A bit of karma here. Didn't he 'tank' during the combine just so he could get to Essendon?

Pass. And if he costs us a game or 2 and has to be subbed out?

McDonough should be developed in this role. The kid can really play.

Because he's a spud and apparently told recruiters pre-draft that he only wanted to go to Essendon. Looks like that backfired.

The best thing about this potential trade is he's one of only a few Bombers who doesn't have a show cause notice.
Perhaps Licka thinks the Bombers won't be fielding a side next season anyway..
