Where are you Tiger Army ??

GWS in 2019 PF sold 1500 tickets to their members and you think GWS had 2K yesterday.
GWS bring around 3-5K at their own home games with oppo fans bringing several thousand., meaning big Vic clubs and big interstate clubs

They had about 50 people, I was there only the cheer squad looked like it had about 30-40 behind the goals at the city end.
I didn't see 1 GWS supporter walking around the southern stand. But as stated they seemed to be behind the goals/city end.

You do realise that we have many MCC members who are Richmond members and for AFL members which we have about 6K they are all Richmond members included in the rewards program and added to the official membership tally.

29K is a pass, especially since we brought all the support. Compare this to some other games in Melb.

As I mentioned pies played on sat prime time and got 36K with crows bringing 3-5K of support.
Ess v lions 30K, Lions bring 5-7K, bombers 22-23K
Dogs V blues 35K combined, what's the break up 19K to 16K for each team as it was a dogs home game.
By the way . 35,000 attending the G is a “ break even “.

The 2000k there I assuming there were neutral supporters who attend , which is the norm for games apparently

Neutral in these covid times, next to no chance, unless its a blockbuster, Anzac day, Dreamtime etc
Also, a Sunday late arvo game, both winless is not a mouth-watering game to entice neutrals IMHO

Check all attendances they are all down over the first two rounds by 10-20%. Give it time. We still have mandates here which also affects people from going as some are not vaccinated.
Main Reasons>. Covid, people have been used to watching on kayo and fox. Ticketing, mobile membership the list goes on.

Went to a game as a neutral supporter on the weekend . I know many AFL and MCC go and watch neutral games to get there footy fix , especially when your team is interstate etc

Game day at the footy for me is also not worth the money it costs nowadays IMO, and the game itself is a turn off for many I have no doubt.
Ticketing is a pain in the ass
The game/rules is not AFL
The costs to go - buying a ticket ...ridiculous
Two kids who are very young. I'd rather be home watching them grow when I barely see them enough Mon-Fri
Spent 4 hrs in the home office yesterday

I could go on. I've bought everyone memberships. I'm contributing to the club financially.
I see me not going as a form of silent protest against the *smile* at AFL House.

The game/rules IS AFL.
It isn't footy?

Wrote to afl over concerns with digital membership. Spoke to rfc too. Still have little to no idea how to get into ground without a ticket. I think I can get ticket thru afl membership (must have Ticketek or Ticketmaster account) for free but if I want a reserved seat I have to pay $10 plus admin fees. Not sure how to get into ground without a bar code if I don’t get a ticket (which I don’t think I can print). AFL certainly not taking older members into account, and thanks for forewarning, not. They still haven’t got details to RFC (club support membership) as I still haven’t got anything from RFC to say a I am a tigers member or received my $20 voucher from RFC.
The enjoyment of watching the game has diminished over the years with the ridiculous rule changes/interruptions, which have brought the game to a hybrid basketball/netball/Gaelic football/rugby type of game. Completely unrecognisable from football as we knew it.
50m penalties for overstepping the mark, accidentally running into protected areas etc impact a game too much. The penalty far outweighs the crime.
Totally p’d off everything afl.

Away games have very little appeal now given difficultly of ticketing, hospitality & the ever increasing midweek games & crappy timeslots.
The AFL is charging heavily right now for a product they can't deliver on.
I'm not surprised punters are abandoning the live experience. Much of it has become difficult.

I get everyone's reasons for not attending or considering not attending but, ahhhhhh! there is nothing like being back at the 'G" watching live footy.

I’m an AFL club support member.

I got an email from club 27th January with $20 coupon for me and both kids.

Use the AFL app to get your tickets. You have an email from the AFL sent 11th March with instructions.

Yes it’s different so there is a learning curve but once you have done it once it is pretty straightforward. I’m not sure on the reserved seats part though.

I think we need to embrace the technological change or you will be just pissed off all the time. Paper and cash money will be relics of the past eventually like fountain ink pens. Not having all this waste should be good for the environment too. (Although the obsolescence of smart phones is a disaster)

However the rule changes need to be fought. These changes are infuriating.

Not that it will stop leysy going, but the $10 tickettek/master charge for a reserve seat when you've already paid your membership is a rort that needs resolving.

That cost would be minimal the ticket agencies and should be absorbed between them and the AFL.

The timeslot for this game is a death spot, so I thought the crowd wasn't too bad all things considered.
Add to that the Stand Rule, chippy chippy football that goes on for periods, Digital tix (for old bloke like me, not easy getting in a kid, self and 83yo Father on one Phone).

Lucky it was a nice day, could have been 15k...

I've got a H&A membership but just for general admission for the Away games. I just go and stand wherever a bunch of Richmond fans are standing and watch with them.

Otherwise, getting a reserved seat to an Away game is a total *** pain in the arse. The Carlton game was infuriating and I've got one for the St.Kilda game also, and that was a pain in the arse rip off too.

The AFL has real problems where its ticketing is concerned. They're turning people off in droves. Too complicated, too much hassle, too expensive/rip off.

Surely this now is enough noise now around the displeasure digital ONLY ticketing has created. There is a world for both (old card printed bar codes and digital) to exist in 2023. Disappointing that the clubs/afl who continually say we want t hear from our members are ignoring this and some (including Richmond) have stated 2023 will be digital only. So much for accommodating and listening to your fan base !

If I turn up to the MCG
Richmond home game
I'm a member but my mate isn't.
Can we still go to a window and buy a ticket?

Totall agree Redders. Upgrading for the away games was a basketcase nightmare.

It sure is. Between using Ticketek or Ticketmaster to upgrade and the infuriating experience that is....plus...getting ripped off in the whole process too.... it makes it all a complete turnoff.

They absorbed it last year. They should do it again.
