Where are you Tiger Army ??

there is a big psychological difference between cold and dark v cold and daylight.
Even NFL and euro soccer where people are far more toltolerant and and and adap
I was there. Still on the way home because Melbourne PT is garbage and trains infrequent on a Thursday.

Thursday night is a horrible night to be in the city.

It was a crap experience.

No atmosphere on a Thursday night.

Can't have a drink because work tomorrow.

Tired and need to get home because work tomorrow.

The spectacle is still horrible. No idea why any free kick is paid, because they're all technical and invisible. Without the umpire mics, it truly feels like they just point at random.

Food and drink are too expensive.

*smile* Thursday night footy.
Train timetable frequency is same on Thursday as any week night. I've been writing to every one of my state mp since the 90s asking why my line has a 30 minute interval after 8.00pm . Obviously no one else wants it. After all the govt only provides services people want.

Another one that was there last night Rugged up to the Max by the time I got home Train wait Tram wait I was frozen
Its a Joke from The AFL these stupid Thursday Night games during Winter as I said to my mate yesterday before I left we would be lucky to get 25-30k The AFL Don't give a Toss about us the fans all they want is money
They only want the Tv money. Do they get any cut of gate takings?

1. Colder than a nun's tit
2. It looked like being wet
3. Interstate opponent
4. Thursday night (school and work tomorrow, also disadvantages those who don't live in Melbourne)
5. Covid
6. Flu
7. People overseas
8. Cost of living concerns

I was surprised we got 20,000, I thought it would be around 17,000.

If supporter bases like ours don't give the AFL the message that Thursday nights in Melbourne in June aren't a flash idea, who will?

Congratulations to everyone who turned up tonight!! For the rest of the so called army making excuses about the cold !! Poor form!!! Do our boys deserve a 20k crowd after 3 flags ? Embarrassing!!!

Here’s an idea the AFL needs to adopt… FFFF-Off Thursday night footy.

Sorry, but I can’t criticise fellow Richmond fans for not being able to make it on a Thursday night. Richmond fans voted with their feet last night and we voted against Thursday night footy.

I was in Quy Nhon decided a swim was better than going to the game on a cold Thursday night. But managed to stream the game. Will be back for next Thursdays game to watch on the couch.

Wasn't that cold last night. Been to much colder games.

Was there last night and reckon it was the smallest crowd I've ever been to. The media keep telling us the fans love Thurs night football so it must be true.
Thursday night footy can GAGF. As can the AFL. No team would have pulled a bigger crowd than that on a winter Thursday night against Port. The reigning premiers wouldn't have cracked 5 figures.

One of the reasons I don't like going is even on games like last night.
23k or whatever it was, you can't even sit where you want can you?

All reserved areas etc. Cheer squads x 2
Members
Afl members etc.

When I got to the G last night I heard over the PA system that all Level 1 seating was gone so all GA had to sit on Level 4

When the AFL settle on regular Thursday night footy I wonder if they predominantly give it to the QLD or WA teams where it’s not so cold in winter, the cities aren’t as big as Melbourne so the trip home isn’t as long?

Everyone I speak to say “ love Thursday night footy as long as we ain’t playing “ , it’s all about the TV , AFL continues to *smile* on the true loyal members , they’d rather people stay home and see the repetitive ads of the sponsors on the TV then let us go pay $20 for a warm beer and a cold pie.

Not right to judge wether other Tiges should or shouldn’t go , I go because the thing I love most about footy now is simply catching up with Tiger friends

I feel RFC's game attendance/membership will drop off like it did for Hawthorn and Geelong after their reigns. That's normal winning fatigue. In our case we have COVID still lingering. no walk up start is a deterrant. ; cost? its actually cheaper in Melbourne to see footy than QLD, both grounds the cheap seats sell out ($30) and the next price is $75 ~90...maybe cheaper for members.
The Bolton show's worth the price of admission.

True loyal members? I’ve been a member for about 25 years. I live in Florida. My Tigers mates are long standing members in Sydney, Canberra and elsewhere. Richmond isn’t a big club because of Victorian members alone, it’s an international brand and Thursday is a good TV night. I sympathize but crowds at games are not the key revenue driver, sometimes the needs of local fans are not the only priority…and please, show a little respect for people forking over membership money for little but to support the club. There’s more than one kind of true loyal supporter.

I went last night but for a close game it was boring. Cold, no atmosphere, the usual what was that free kick for?
Who does the draw at the AFL these days, is it still Auld after he buggered things up a few years ago? Whoever it is should lose their job. We've had no Thursday night games for many weeks when the weather was milder, then winter hits and we reschedule them again with the highest drawing team on a school night two weeks in a row. We'll be flat out getting 50K next week against Carlton for a game that would draw 70K+ on a Saturday afternoon this time of year.
Further, we now have a rolling fixture and they schedule Essendon back to back Friday night games after their shocking start to the season, where was this equality when we were crap?
The AFL have always taken their fan base for granted and haven't yet realised that during covid people's habits have changed and even some diehards now pick and choose when they'll attend because their habit has been broken. Add the rule changes, dumb scheduling, shocking umpiring standards that at least you know why they paid the free at home due to the ump's mikes, clubs and the AFL ramming their woke agendas down people's throats and people will and are voting with their feet.

Yep true loyal members are us who go every week and we are the ones who’ve been *smile* on, now that’s not saying other members aren’t true loyal members like the many of you from all over the planet , I think your just been pedantic as it’s clear what my point is and in no way is it disrespectful ,I have a Tiger mate who lives in Washington DC and he says Thursday night or any other day or night dosent matter for him because he “tapes” the games due to been at work or it’s the middle of the night , for us who go every week , it’s just a shocking night of the week for most people to get too, it’s not the end of the world but as we’ve both said it’s for TV . Like it or not midweek games are shitting on the people who go every week , no it dosent make you a lesser supporter and it obviously suits a lot of people who just watch AFL on TV

I don’t buy the International brand , anything out of Australia in development has just been a money pit, but that’s whole different discussion

Richmond football club is big because of a lot of reasons and I certainly don’t want to take anything away from Tiges who don’t go to games , however one thing for sure though is if we didn’t have loyal Richmond members going to the games every week ,we’d be a lot more like Norf then the Mighty club we are . Many many of us sacrifice plenty to go to games live , just as others sacrifice seeing the Tiges live for other things in life , it’s the choices we make and as I said without regular footy goers going week in week out the gameand the clubs die

sorry I should have mentioned part of my beef with us getting these Thursday night games is the fact Essendon ( 16th) on the ladder in this wonderful floating fixture ( fabulous idea for the loyal travellers) get 3 prime time Friday night games in a row
