Where are you Tiger Army ??

1. Colder than a nun's tit
2. It looked like being wet
3. Interstate opponent
4. Thursday night (school and work tomorrow, also disadvantages those who don't live in Melbourne)
5. Covid
6. Flu
7. People overseas
8. Cost of living concerns

I was surprised we got 20,000, I thought it would be around 17,000.
9. People heading off for an extra long weekend.

You obviously don’t have kids or kid related responsibilities, nor have to wake up at 6am on Friday to go to work. Don’t blame our bloody faithful supporters but the custodians of the game who are ruining it.

Talk a big game when you’ve been to watch the Tigers in pouring rain in front of less than 10k crowd, knowing you can’t possibly win and Jeff Hogg being the only decent player.
I remember those days like it was yesterday

When the AFL settle on regular Thursday night footy I wonder if they predominantly give it to the QLD or WA teams where it’s not so cold in winter, the cities aren’t as big as Melbourne so the trip home isn’t as long?
That sounds like too much common sense..............And we all know the only time that ever gets applied is to screw us over.

Thursday Nights is for the telecast partners. The fans don't come into it really. But the AFL will whip up their media sycophants to lay a guilt trip on the mug supporter.

You know the biggest irony of Thursday night footy. School holidays would be a perfect time for big crowds at the G but we have a game scheduled at the Gabba and down in Geelong. Geelong would actually be a good choice for hosts for a Thursday night game due to the local population. They are impacting overall crowd attendances with stupid and without thought fixturing errors.

I wonder if the media carry on about the poor crowd of 21K isn't bit of an overreaction?
The last few Richmond v Port games in Victoria:

2019 MCG Round 18, a Saturday day game: 41,642
2016 MCG Round 6, a Saturday night game: 27,077
2014 Docklands Round 17, a Sunday day game: 21,483
2012 MCG Round 23, a Sunday afternoon game: 27,893
2010 Docklands Round 22, a Sunday day game: 37,674
2007 MCG Round 16, a Sunday day game: 22,395
2005 Docklands Round 6, a Sunday day game: 21,301
2003 Docklands Round 21, a Sunday day game: 15,920

Given the weather, Thursday night time slot, covid hangover, and our dodgy season, it doesn't really look out of place.

First post in a while. I went last night. I’m one of those nuffies that goes no matter what. I’m not going to criticise anyone who either couldn’t go or decided not to go. Doesn’t mean they love the club any less than me.I have no life so it’s easy for me. While the crowd number was disappointing, I think it was understandable and reasonable in the circumstances. People have work commitments next day and it might have been difficult for them to justify either missing the next day or turning Up this morning tired from lack of sleep ( I’ve had trouble sleeping lately so made no difference to me). People with kids having to go to school today. People living more than couple of hours away. A cold Thursday night in June in Melbourne was just a stupid scheduling decision by the AFL hierarchy if they wanted to look after fans that want to see their team live. But they don’t seem to care about that the past few years. As others have mentioned, it makes more sense to schedule Thursday night games ( if they have to) in Perth or Queensland. If they believe that it’s a ratings winner and don’t care about crowd numbers then it would make more sense to schedule teams that don’t draw big crowds anyway ( Nth, GWS, Melb,Bulldogs etc). That way the crowd number isn’t dramatically impacted and they can still crow about ratings. And if they say they need clubs that are up and firing at the moment, well that’s crap. With the hated rolling fixture why have they gifted crap teams like the druggies with prime time?

I was watching on the couch, heating set to 22, beer cold, with a selection of cheese and biscuits. In bed 20 minutes after the game.

And loved every second of it.

I went but not working this morning. Had two pairs of socks, thermal underwear and jeans, t-short polo and puffer, beanie and scarf and still had to thaw my nuts out when I got home.
Probably should have left them in your pants. Not real smart to wave the tackle around celebrating a win on such a cold miserable night.

As a 42 year member with reserve seats, and living in Geelong and working till 5.30,Thursday night football sucks just too hard to get too .

Couldn't go even if I wanted too, had a 4.30 am wake up to take 17yr old Grandson to work experience job.

I know, I know, poor excuse but Thems the breaks. :)

I really find tiger games very unfriendly time wise, they can stick their Thursday night games where the sun don't shine, especially after I gifted 2 years of reserved membership for 3 people and now find such *smile* game times.
