When will Bernie go !!

All I want is to know the structure and tactics enable the players to use their talents.

If we lose that way, I'm not happy, but I'm not calling for sackings either.

Continue to let Hardwick have his way and we need to move now before the season is shot.

all im really saying is, we could have had Richo at the height of his powers at CHF on Sunday night and Steve Morris in an easy chair in Doncaster, and we would have lost by at least 7 goals.

I think to say the coach, or a side, in the top 4, on 5-1, is shot is a trifle reactionary.

I think the difference in our viewpoints which makes it difficult to understand each other is you consider the past and I pretty much view the tigers in the moment.

This week, im shitting myself.

Will see where we really sit in the pecking order after the next 4 games - WB, Freo, GWS, Essendon.

If we can win 3 out of those 4 I will be happy.

If we win 2 or less, we will be fighting for a spot in the 8 towards the end of the season I reckon.

we won't win 3. probably 2. but I don't think we'll be fighting for a spot in the 8. we will make it comfortably. after the next batch of 4, we have Norf, Sydney (h) and Carlton. we'll win all 3 which will take us up to 10 wins, meaning we'd only need to win 3 of our last 9 games.

i reckon we took a punt and it backfired. i dont think we went into the game to turn it into an arm wrestle. we wanted to play fast, and attacking. we went overboard, and it appeared once the crows got on top we realised we were screwed and didnt try much different, because we didnt have guys to move around.
hopefully this week we return to 2 tall forwards, plus a ruck, and we dont play average back pockets in the forward line.

jeez one loss and the knives are out again.

That being said this week is a test of nerve. What is abundantly clear is that this fast style of footy is the way to the top now and we have to be prepared to do the same. What the last 6 weeks proved is that we are moving in the right direction but we are nowhere near the finished product. What a surprise that is !!

The test of nerve is to do it again and not go back to old ways. If that means we get well beaten then so be it, I would rather get beaten by 8 goals taking the game on than by 3-4 playing dour and defensive. This is about building a team and a style of play because we aren't going to win the flag this year.

We can take the game right up to the Dogs but I for one am not interested in doing it by playing the 2016 style. Maybe the 2016 style in that game against them last year but not the rest of the season.

We had someone recently claim they some intel on Elton but It wasn't accurate and not even well researched.
Treat it all with a pinch of salt.

Wasn't accurate or well researched.

Thanks for the feedback Caro.

You have to wonder if frustration is creeping in again for the players.

Easy to forget the players downed tools toward the end of last year. Didn't want to go to the well.

It's a bit early to be calling that. Afterall, it's only been one bad half; against the top side.

Lets see how they come out this week. the doggies arent playing great, we should run them close if our heads still in the game.

Yep it is too early.

Handbrake needs to let Leppacella continue to innovate.

This Leppacella thing is interesting Baron. Who has the better senior coaching record, Leppa or Dimma?

I think Leppa is a great assistant coach who has a very good record in 2 stints with us but clearly he needs someone else steering the ship. I wonder who that is? Couldn't be the senior coach could it?

Nah, It's probably Balme or even Caracella I guess.....

buckley is a hardwick clone.

from their NFL worship, to their defensive bias, to their endangered status.

buckley will play reid back because he doesn't want to ruin a zone that's working to address a zone that's not.

buckley / hardwick will forever be missing opportunities when it comes to kicking winning scores ::)

same with astbury this week. we'll see if hardwick makes the logical call of shifting him forward.

Better than the Bulldogs though.
Yep, apart from GWS they have looked ordinary. We are not without a chance this week, but if Morris lines up fwd those chances reduce.

Leysy would start Astbury back against the Dogs.

Far from convinced he will offer much up forward, in fact, pretty convinced he won't.

Surprised Leyser, Astbury is the epitome of lunk-head forward muscle. Runs in straight lines but will read the play. Most importantly will cause spillages.

Unlike rocket man, he can kick straight.

The smalls will need to be quick because he is fairly useless on the deck.

Is that the source of your hesitation?

Won't ever get separation on the lead Baron. Lacks athleticism.

He will do what you said, but so will Rocket man. But he will also apply better defensive pressure.

Astbury's strengths are his ability to read the flight and sure hands over head.

Think Harry Taylor - just better suited back there.

Net sum = better team with him in the key post.

Worth a try at some stage no doubt, just don't think it will work.
