When will Bernie go !!

Btw Chol or Soldo would've done a serviceable job.
So just how serviceable a job did Cholly n Soldo manage to provide in their reserves level game at the weekend Baron?
By what measure or standard do you presume they would somehow have elevated their performance from reserves level to being serviceable against a high quality AFL side in red hot form. Or perhaps you were just speculating after the non occurrence.

I just don't buy Soldo as a centre half forward somehow. Chol neither at this stage in his career. Kind of why I don't think we have a great list when we have one genuine key forward.

Most sides only have one genuine key forward, some don't quite even have that. The issue is we don't have a second-string/ foil/ ruck-fwd type. As is being said on the Griff thread, he's not a star, but he played his role. Its a hugely important role, we are finding that out, players like Griff, Jesse White, Rhys Stanley, they cop a lot of crap for not being stars, but they play a hugely important role.

Agree that there are legit reasons why Soldo or Mabs didn't get a game, and Elton too.

Agree 100% that a soup-can as second string key forward is better than nothing. Right now we got nothing.

May i ask a question, please?

Assuming i got the ok!

Do we have a Jesse White or Rhys Stanley on our list?

If not, well these guys are by implication being called second stringers. We don't have their equivalents. Not even by the most optimistic reader of our list.

Jeez, I wish we had either of these blokes to come in this round. Moreover, we may have saved some face if we had either of them as a cut out puppet at CHF on Sunday.

Grant me strength and let me endure if not survive until we have a better coach, because that's where list management should start unless the inmates (Board) have control.

so playing one of Elton/ Chol/ Soldo wouldn't have changed the result. What are we debating again?
We will never know.

Adelaides greatest attacking weapon is their back line.

That line up gave us zero chance of limiting their influence.

how do you know this?

for the thousandth time, because they would have prevented Lever, Talia et al from intercept marking at will. given our small fleet crucial seconds to move in and trap the ball.

agree with both points Baz. :shakehead

You laughy faced me a couple of weeks in a row, for saying Elton wasnt hopeless and was giving us a contest and a chop out.

Your narrative is as fluid as Lismore's CBD.
I have been called many things but never Baz ;D

You should know Dimma.... ;D

Tigers have Cotch Brownlow winner ,Dusty runner up Brownlow, Jack two time Coleman , Rance All Australian so we are not short of guns. We have a core around them who put in week after week who supplement our guns. Then we have another core getting a game who just & will never stack up when the going gets tough. This later core then has the Tigers having to play inexperienced players like Rioli , KMac, Short, Markov, Castagna & Butler who we expect to play like seasoned warriors. Until this is addressed the Tigers will not produce what we want...respect.

Yes, agreed. I'll even dub it the 'hollow' core. Does it coincide with the period of the drafting being dominated with all the top talent going north in spades. Gees, GWS have Lobb, Cameron and Patton running around on the same FL with the likes of T.Green, Stevie J and D. Smith and Co. for SFs.

But then I remember that I heard a commentator say how strong Crows are, despite having the likes of Davis and Tippett ripped out, that they never drop far down, always competitive and usually play finals YET the highest pick on their current list is No.11.

It's both astute drafting, trading and development where we have been left behind struggling. What they have got from high picks has been amazing, including picking the eyes out of our home-grown Vic talent with trades the likes of Jacobs and Betts from the Blues, Jenkins (Druggers), Lynch (Saints); drafted Sloane, Talia, Atkins, Crouch bros, Lever.

They are killing it.

Don't worry folks, have a gut feelin we are going to beat the Dogs this week. Dimma will be the best coach again in 1 week. woohoo. :vomit

If by some miracle or an act of God, maybe even on its merit and RFC turn it around to go onto to win a premiership this year, my only regret will be seeing Dimma at the helm.

You don't rate Morris?

Absolutely got found out by Adelaide, whether or not that is because adelaide are far and away the best side in the comp is the pertinent question. They are just so strong everywhere. If we follow up this performance with similar ones against WB and GWS then whats the point with persisting with Bernie?
Adelaide are just too good.

As critical as i have been of him in the past, there was nothing Bernie could've done,. In fact he tried a few things but to no avail. Adelaide have talent everywhere at the moment. The gap between them an us is pretty big.

They were very very good.

However selecting Morris then playing him forward, playing Vlastuin as a CHF and not selecting a second tall forward against a defence of Hartigan, Lever and Talia gave us a 6 goal handicap from the get go.

Elton, yes, Todd Elton, would have added more to the team than Morris.

Riewoldt was double teamed most of the 2nd half, an extra tall up fwd would have helped to alleviate the situation.

Crows are outstanding though.

Happy with our 1st 40 minutes of the game - we took it up to the premiership favourites.

Will see where we really sit in the pecking order after the next 4 games - WB, Freo, GWS, Essendon.

If we can win 3 out of those 4 I will be happy.

If we win 2 or less, we will be fighting for a spot in the 8 towards the end of the season I reckon.

yeah, we lost it at the selection table.

There were quite a few nervous Crows around me at quarter time. I just said, don't worry your backmen will pick us off as the game goes on.

Lever in particular is very impressive for such a young player.

I don't mind playing a smallish CHF if we have too. But he has to either be fast and crafty, or be able to take an over head mark. Vlastuin and Morris obviously don't fit the bill.
