When will Bernie go !!

Won't ever get separation on the lead Baron. Lacks athleticism.

He will do what you said, but so will Rocket man. But he will also apply better defensive pressure.

Astbury's strengths are his ability to read the flight and sure hands over head.

Think Harry Taylor - just better suited back there.

Net sum = better team with him in the key post.

Worth a try at some stage no doubt, just don't think it will work.

To quote the great Dyer'ere, Astbury will kick the *smile*ing goal.

He can build up steam on a straight line, LD.

That might be moot if we continue to bomb the pill on our forwards' heads.

The doggies play small up forward. If Astbury was gonna swing, it's this week.

Interesting to see how it goes.

Not holding leysy's breathe on it working, but yeah if you were gunna pull the trigger this is the week.

Heck even I agree with you on this one.

Prestia, Caddy, Yarran.

Oh, the sins we have committed to save Bernie's job.

Apart from the Yazzy one being a right royal stuff up, albeit with good intentions, if these sins were half as bad as you're bleating about.
Wouldn't it be obvious that someone is seriously trying to undermine Dimma?
Squeeze him out n kill off any chance he has of achieving by trading away picks for sub standard players who will take us nowhere.

You should be happy Barren instead of moaning n bleating you should be dancing, there's an inside manipulator doing a stealth number to bring Dimma down for you.

Would've been a tad easier to sack him TM.

To easy, if they'd done that n the new coach had us sitting at five - zip, you and certain others would be singing n dancing a few versus of the hallelujah chorus. Praising up the new coach in all his glory n thanking the admin for apparently finally seeing sense.

Dimma still has the job n gets us to five - zip n it's all doom n gloom, dud coach n hate everything.

It's so much more fun on here while Dimma is coach.

But ....

It wasn't Dimma who has got us where we are this year it was Leppacella. Unless we get badly beaten today, then Dimma has taken over again

Apparently Leppacella is assisted by JFK as chairman of selectors and Elvis as development manager.

Does anyone seriously think Leppacella is coaching and Dimma just sits in the box and does the pressers. If there is anything that Dimma does worse than coaching its pressers, that would be the first thing that should be cut from his job description in the interest of supporter sanity. Thus far.

So we fired some crap assistants and hired some better ones and we changed the game plan. It doesn't mean Dimma is not coaching and it doesn't mean he is a good coach.

Those looking for him to go better wrap their brain around the fact we only play 5 teams in the 8 fro the rest of the year. The chances of him not making finals from 5-1 are very low IMHO.

you can't argue with conspiracy theorists Bill. ;D Dimma is Gerry Gee, end of story.

That's a good way to paper over the cracks. Play no one, reach September, get bundled out yet again. Time will tell.

smashed at the stoppages, very poor transition.

down the line all night, we needed to grind our goals and play a sapping, contested style.

we needed 'out' goals like the doggies were able to get but our transition wasn't polished enough.

comes down to licence IMO. Beveridge gives his players licence to take the bold option to overlap and link to find players in space.

our players seem caught in two minds or are flat out told to make sure of each touch.

plenty of work for caracella to do - transition was a big, fat fail tonight.

We were lucky against Weagles and Pies. Beat Brisbane and Carlton like we should have.
Dees were should have taken more advantage of their injuries to win by more.

I think under the hood, the motor isn't ticking over like it should have been. These two losses should bring the microscope. We're not good enough.

That last quarter was so Richmond-esque. When the pressure was on they were slick by hand and we fumbled. Considering their record in close games and ours, there was always gonna be one result.

I felt we were undermanned in the mids tonight Baron and had to make allowances. Vlastuin going off was a big loss.

We were without our main ruck who does a lot of ground work, Prestia, Edwards, Conca and then Vlossy off. I felt the decision was made that tHe only way to win the game was grind and rely on the backs to hold on.

It was a fair enough decision given the personnel we had on the field imo and it nearly worked.

We desperately need a line breaking mid though, one with genuine speed. Too many one paced mids tonight.

D50 intercepts will only get you so far Sinners, and yes I think you could be right about trying to beat them through one-on-one grit.

it's a very dour, energy-intense setup that does little to tick the scoreboard over.

like I said elsewhere, we needed 'out' goals like the bulldogs were able to get. 'easy' goals from polished chains.

either this midfield is ill-equipped to do what caracella wants them to do or they're not being bold enough.

so many times we got the ball and were happy to move it slowly. no players linking to take the game on. we just massed down field for a down the line almost every time. not saying he was the architect, but this is a classic hardwick trait. kicking long to an outnumbered tall (jack) just so we can trap and set up camp.

rutten is only coach to get a tick from last night.

When Adams was shifted forward. He stood their and did nothing. How about moving Astbury forward and Elton back.
The only trick he has is, to put caddy. Cotchin, or Martin in the goal square. And even that move is out dated

Haaargh!

Dimma tried for three years to teach them how to do this stuff n for three years we coughed up the ball, stopped n stuttered n went round in circles. Most of our players don't have the skills, composure or footy smarts to execute this type of footy consistently.

Our best type of footy is simply the chaos barge n charge and we absolutely need all our better players on the paddock n in form to execute even that reasonably well.

The effort has been better but in his eighth season he has to win games like last night. We were over five goals up and got overun. It is a combination of recruiting and devolpment but we are still a long way from being with premiership contender.
