When will Bernie go !!

Drama queens?

Hah. I would have thought removing a serial non performer is a fairly pragmatic response.

8 years is a fair sample.

Massive changes ushered in after last yr. Solid start to the 2017. Let's at least wait until the season proper starts before we assess things.

No point going off like pork (lamb) chops now IMO.

Nah, ToO. That's too fair.

The horse bolted long ago. Every game this guy coaches is wasted time.

Lloyd the latest player to hint at Hardwick's failed methods.

rd 1 will be interesting and I think set the tone for season 2017. It wont be just beating Carlton but HOW we do it.

Win by a small margin with a terribly stodgy "2016' style of footy or have that same scenario of Carlton storming back from a 6 goal deficit will tell us a huge amount.

You know my feelings n Dimma by now.
I don't think he should be coaching this season but due to decisions made by Gale & co., the reality is he won't be sacked in the first few games of the year.
Therefor just wait and see what unfolds.

Yeah I just think it's madness to build around Dimma after seven years.

But roll on Thursday

RFC Autumn Parish newsletter

It has been a busy week in the parish with both Father Brendan and Father Damian spending much solid and exciting time together.

First news of the week was the naming of the onfield parish council of Cotchin, Rance and Riewoldt. Parishioners will note that the number has been reduced to three and Father Damian in his usual witty way has already described them as the Holy Trinity.

Father Damian held a wonderful sermon last week and officially welcomed Father Blake who was said to be waiting in the wings. Father Damian had good news that Lead choir boy Steve Morris would be “on song “, soon to return to his lead soprano role, after his sojourn back from Baritone some years ago.

Father Damian’s sermon was about the importance of confessing your sins, taking responsibility on your watch and the importance of learning one’s lessons. He told the parable of the full back who disastrously kicked off against the Dockers after having a momentary lapse of faith in the game-plan.
All was forgiven after confession, said Father Damian.

Father Damian welcomed new parishioner and RFC prodigal son Neil Balme back to the fold. Parishioner Balme has learnt a lot on his travels and suggested to Father Damian to let the parishioners “just play”; an idea that Father Damian is considering although he has said he must be sure that the flock does not stray too far from the road to the promised land.

In other news Father Brendan noted parishioners concerns about smoke coming from the chimney of the old Punt Road Oval grandstand. “ I’m not surprised the parishioners are surprised, but it is of no concern to parishioners. The existing Parish Council, was just formalising the appointment of some new councillors”, he said.

Tea was shared on the lawns after the service and Father Damian was over heard discussing different faiths. He was heard to share this pearl of wisdom, “Well the Queen is known as the defender of the faith, whereas I am known for my faith in the defender”.

Well said Father Damian and good luck sending the Blues to hell this week.

It is interesting... Our NRL Namesakes (of sorts) the Wests Tigers are seriously looking at sacking their coach, just three rounds into the season.

Last year was crap - why are so many on here wishing that 2017 be the same or worse.

Right now all I want is for the Tigers to go out there and beat our 2 arch enemies and then I can at least sit back and enjoy Easter with 2 wins under the belt.

It's a new season for crying out loud

It's not cool to want to win

Just did. Prefer a ruthless decision like that than floating through another wasted year should it go pear shaped early.

After three finals losses, I can understand why the club took a conservative approach. We where average, nomans land! After the port finals smashing, I believe the club invested in youth and pace, aware that 2016 would be a season of pain, most likely this one as well.

I can't agree with that. the club took a "locked and loaded" approach to 2016 and only focused on kids when the season was over.

I'm hopin' we lose Dimma with enough time to have a crack at finals.

hence my carlton call. if we lose that, and Collingwood, the heat will be immense.

sorry dude but that's unrealistic. we're not gonna sack the coach by round 4 and expect the replacement to turn us around overnight. even I want us to beat Carlton, which sayds a lot considering I am the resident PRE whinger :hihi

but overall, I think this team just about needs to start again from scratch. while I don't wanna lose dusty (and hope he signs for 5 years), but on the other side of the coin, if we get 3 or 4 first round draft picks this year, it might set us up for a serious tilt when the GWS era ends in around 5 years or so.

Agree, the coaching staff (not putting it all on Dimma) wasted the second half of last year playing to minimise the size of losses. Good to stop yourself getting fired, but bad for development.

Doing it again this year is beyond pointless.

He is the clown that has 7 years of his footprints on this side. To think otherwise is head in the sand or in the rump thinking!
So remind me again how many years of footprints Rance, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Martin, Edwardes, Houli, Grigg, Deledio and a few others have over the side.
Perhaps you'd like to explain how many of them were best on grounds during the finals campaigns or all those years of mediocrity?

Heads neither in the sand or up my clacker saigon, it's a two way street. Coachings been average and so have a lot of our players.

List has been refreshed, coaching panel has been refreshed. If we're *smile* again this year Dimma will get his arse handed to him on a plate guaranteed. Wonder how many of our players will get their arses handed to them on the same plate?

um, plus three embarrassing, deflating finals losses.

Yes and each loss was weird in it's own way: forced to play a team that didn't even make the eight instead of a drug-addled side we just walloped in the final H & A; then the kicking into a howling gale debacle against Port; followed by having to play the all-key-players-rested in the final H & A Norf.

Not sure Hardwick is 100% to blame.

"forced into" playing ninth placed Carlton? Surely you jest.

They were shizen, we finished fifth. Hardwick couldn't beat them.

"kicked into a gale"? You gotta be kidding. It was our decision, maybe even hardwicks, to do that. In any case, we had nothing in the tank after climbing back after being 3-10.

Playing a NM side with "rested talls"? Gimme a break. Hardwick still hasn't found a way to beat either Scott brother.

There was nothing "weird" about any of those losses. They were regulation games of footy we lost at the selection table and in the coach's box.

We looked okay in the pre season games, but there werent many examples of cohesive, supportive spread from the contest.

It was largely the kick and hope we've been seeing for a while now. I like the intent to move the ball on, but changes in collective mindset take time.

Hardwick may like to "hope" it works, but if Carlton sag back to intercept poor entries then we're in for a frustrating night on Thursday.
