When will Bernie go !!

I just hope Bernie wins a final, then my opinion of him will sway into the positive :)

on Open Mike, Gale summed it well when he said, media & social media, people look for the one thing that changed it around for us.
There wasn't one thing, a bit here, bit there input from various people. They added wisdom and knowledge(think he referred to Balmey) which was something that really helped.
Even in Bernie's admission, he was a dead man walking and had to change ways. last year forced changed for the good.

Maybe it was the year RFC needed to have to have last year & have a good hard look itself. In the past it was break out the champagne & happy just making finals in the past.
Don't care about the dribble they say we knew what we were doing. That is BS imo or else last year would not have happened. Now they gloat again.
Win a final RFC then rightfully puff out your chest. ;)

I hope we win the flag.

Then Geelong on friday is our Gettysburg, win that and we win the war.

Nah, as above again.

There is no strawman or diversion from Harry.

He's got a good football brain and has explained where out pitfalls have been for years.

Fixed what he said and boom. All of a sudden guys who consensus said were average are now playing great football.

That's because of the running patterns and system we are playing. Everyone automatically improves.

Horseshit. What you've said isn't, but what harry said remains half truths, strawmen and diversionary tactics, which you've taken on board as gospel. it's a free country.

We'll be back to the start of the thread, Sin. The question is, would Peggy and Benny go early again on the Hardwick appointment for a further two years?

That is the spark that started this fire.

I am excited but not overly confident about the finals. I still think we have some super young talent coming on that will make us a much better team again in 2018-19.

All we need is a half decent CHF who can pinch hit in the ruck

If that happens most will blame one man regardless of the circumstances. That's a given.

Silly statement, Hardwick has more protection and fall guys around than Kim Jong-un :)

Buckley seems to have started a way of thinking whereby the senior coach isn't held responsible for the performance of the team.

It does beg the question; if the coach isn't responsible for the teams performance then what are they responsible for?

So if we do go out in straight sets (God forbid) are you suggesting that Hardwick should be absolved of any responsibility even though he would have presided over 5 finals losses and 0 wins? Your surname isn't Maguire is it Toby?

Hoping Dimma's managed to borrow a couple of those rockets n missiles off little Kimmy Jong. Would make breathing a tad easier during he finals if we could nuke a couple of teams early in the games.

Nice work if you can get it.

The Geelong game is massive TM. Win that and smash a couple monkeys off our backs and anything is possible.

Lose it and the public and media focus will be all about our inability to win a final the prospect of going out in straight sets.

Don't know about strawmen Snakey but a lot of posters are using this thread as a figleaf.

Wrong about Dimma's game plan being wrong in the past. Post on Bernie thread.
Wrong about defending Dimma's drone selections. Post on Bernie thread.
Wrong about defending Dimma's handbrake philosophy (rigid structures/overcoaching/overly cautious mindset/turgid ball movement/not embracing momentum) which stifled our best players. Post on the Bernie thread.

Interesting comment by Dusty on the Footy Show. WTTE that Dimma is just letting him play this year. Good move. Funny that a lot of posters were imploring him to do that from 2014.

It really is amazing what allowing a team to play to their strengths can achieve. Finally we have both a game plan and personnel that compliment our guns rather than shackle them.

Anyway maximizing a team's strengths is a very good coaching effort. Well done to all those involved. Looking forward to its continuance September and October.

Biggest game for the club in a long long time ,

Win it and I honestly believe we go into the next game as favourites at the g .

Yep win and we will be favourites for the flag. Our GF opponents likely to be interstate teams or teams that have played 3 finals.

Not quite broders. Would be a shared responsibility I would think. Coach can only do so much if players get stage fright. Or if we simply get beaten by a better team on the day. But some will absolve players of responsibility and blame Hardwick 100% regardless of the circumstances. It's happened in previous finals losses (in fact losses full stop). That's just how some around here roll. Let's hope we don't get to find out.
