When will Bernie go !!

we know he's a poor coach from the box. when his system fails he doesn't like to tweak.

having said that, losing to Geelong down there is about right. we've been a good side this year without being a dynamic one. we like to control the flow of play and keep teams within arms reach.

one of the hallmarks of 2017 is that every single team will have down days and get done comfortably.

we clearly tapered in late june / early july and then won the next four.

playing hawthorn is always an angsty experience for us, and last week, while regulation, would've taken a fair bit of juice. at least that monkey has been well and truly skewered.

yes, it's disappointing to lose to Geelong and stall in our dash for the top two, but I think we'll regroup and assault the last two rounds like we know we should.

fourteen points down against another top four team on their own dung heap. we'd beat geelong at the G i reckon.

Thought we did ok in the circumstances, kicking for goal, Jack, Houli, it could have been very different.

Whilst I wont whine about the umpiring, total inconsistency in interpretation keeps killing us.

It's hard to watch and must be frustrating the hell out of our players.

not so bad when all is said and done. we must beat freo and the saints though.

I'll join the boys.

There are plenty of threads to bash the coach, we don't need another one.

PS Hardwick does two things in pressers

1 Always complements the opposition
2 Says nothing by choice
Sorry if I'm p!ssing in your playground but I've not seen another thread about what Hardwick says and what he does - and there is a real disconnect and "we" think this is a valid thread to discuss that disconnect don't we. This is not a bash of the coach; I'll leave that to you. It's an attempt to understand Hardwick's way and whether or not he is actually capable of taking the Tigers to a premiership, or not. :clap

Agree with your comments. I would love him to be asked the question. I have mentioned a few times about how good Mile's second quarter was against Gold Coast, something Grigg could only dream of. Was high class contested ball use.

And I could not give a rats about you starting a new thread. Apparently there must be some code of etiquette somewhere..like it matters..

What concerns me is the crystal clear contradictions of the coach. Declaring in his post game presser we lost contested ball yet he leaves out Miles makes no logical sense. And a winable game was lost.

Hardwick is an employee of the club and he fuc*^+#ed up big time, again, going into a finals series with this sort of logic is not just a major concern, it's a major coaching flaw! Who at the club will get into his ear and tell him; no more chances buster?

Re: The Hardwick selection, coaching, post-game analysis disconnect

Hindsight is 20 20 vision. Reckon Hardwick should have foreseen on Thursday night at the selection table Caddy limping off before quarter time. This foresight would have prompted him to have Miles on the bench. Caddy's hamstring injury cost us a lot of grunt in the packs around the ground. This was not Hardwicks fault either at the selection table or on game day. What was Hardwicks fault was falling for Scott's clever use of Harry Taylor on Rance. Not only did he towel Rance up but because he made Rance accountable stopped his run off the backline - we really missed that rebound all day. What should he have done? Put Astbury on Taylor and shift Rance to either half back flank or into the forwards to get his mojo back (Rance was in the forwards in the last minutes of the game). Further he should have had the resting ruck as a second man on Taylor. But Hardwick sat on his hands and hoped Rance would come good.......end of rant.

Re: The Hardwick selection, coaching, post-game analysis disconnect

Well back in r9, our team let the GWS kick the last 6 goals of the game.
If we'd got just 1 goal, we'd be 2nd on the ladder.

To you and your girlfriends Brodders17 and Baloo; if you have a comment about the "disconnect" between what Hardwick says and does and does and says I'm sure there are a few on this blog that would be interested to read them; myself included. As for your idiotic, inane, smart arse comments to date - take them and your small minds and annoy somebody else.
Bit precious are we dangerous? I take your point, however rightly or wrongly PRE is full of sarcasm and smart arse comments, makes the place tick in some funny way. Threads like yours have there points and like it or not many will comment however they like, that's a forum/ blog, however the negative types only post them after loses and refuse to give credit when it is deserved, some just won't ever admit to getting things wrong or in Dimmas case see improvement. Dimma may or may not be the right coach , however there's a whole thread on his down falls that have been discussed over an over, many comments with valid points and the same with Miles and his own thread.

Your girlfriends comment is just childish wank

Re: The Hardwick selection, coaching, post-game analysis disconnect

Bernie never misses an oppprtunity to miss an opportunity. Play miles and put astbury on taylor and we win the game. 2 of the more obvious moves.

"The nature of the games down here are highly contested and we didn't hunt the ball anywhere near to the level that we would like" Hardwick said post-game down at the Cattery.

This is the same man who dropped Miles, one of the RFC’s best contested ball hunters bar none, for a game played on a small ground without Geelong’s best contest ball hunter in Selwood.

Hardwick is either schizophrenic or just plain dumb! I believe he’s dumb with a stubborn streak that has cost the club a lot of games; last Saturday being just another example of those dysfunctional qualities exposed by his selections and his head-in-the-sand game day coaching skills.

He is dishonest with himself; dishonest with his selections and lacks the courage in taking a hard line against non-performers and shrinking violets in the side who continue to wilter in big games.

Cut him loose Richmond and begin the pre-season with a new head coach! >:D

Do you credit him for all our wins and our ladder position too?

Kick straight and we win

So jealous of the Hawks yesterday . 18 goals 8 behinds. Prob been seasons since we have converted at that rate.

Jack and Houli are our two best (?) kicks and miss 4 from 25-35 m on negligible angles. Almost worth forgetting about contested training this week and instead have 5-6 set shot sessions.

Cats kicked more behinds. Time we stopped looking for excuses. They were missing 5 key players. Bernie dropped the ball. Not surprising.

I reckon this extreme tone of bagging when we're sitting top 4 is about as idiotic as it gets. Fighting it out for the spoon, fair enough, go to town.

*smile*.

If only things were so simple.

Easy to be wise and all knowing from the sidelines and make claims that can't possibly be proven.

Anyway, if you had your way Astbury would have been at CHF weeks ago.

I love the armchair coaches who reckon by sitting in the stands they know more about the game than those who work with the players every day and have been involved in the game for umpteen years. "Play him here and pick him and we win, its so obvious".

Ridiculous in the extreme.

Cant win flags in August..

Need to finish the season off with 2 wins and see where we end up.

Every team has losses, its how they respond.

yep. Now we only need to win 5 in a row to win the flag, instead of 9 in a row.

Bernie dropped the ball had time to pick it up & kick a goal but he did not.
