When will Bernie go !!

I would like to know why Bernie played Rance on Taylor who held him deep all game and didn't allow rance to push up and intercept geelongs forward thrusts. Astbury was the obvious matchup who would have better handled Taylors marking ability as well as releasing Rance to do what he does best.

And it's a fair point, too, H.
I would have thought Astbury would have spent some time marking Taylor.

Bernie dropped the ball twice this game - one, not dealing with Geelong's player behind the ball and marking our players on the fat side so we couldn't switch play. This is how we get easy entries into F50 and it just didn't happen this game. Would have thought just trying a swap was worth a go (Rance/Astbury).

Did anyone ask him in the press conference?

Hardwick seems to have brain explosions when caching against the Bobblehead Twins. This was another example of it.

we know he's a poor coach from the box. when his system fails he doesn't like to tweak.

having said that, losing to Geelong down there is about right. we've been a good side this year without being a dynamic one. we like to control the flow of play and keep teams within arms reach.

one of the hallmarks of 2017 is that every single team will have down days and get done comfortably.

we clearly tapered in late june / early july and then won the next four.

playing hawthorn is always an angsty experience for us, and last week, while regulation, would've taken a fair bit of juice. at least that monkey has been well and truly skewered.

yes, it's disappointing to lose to Geelong and stall in our dash for the top two, but I think we'll regroup and assault the last two rounds like we know we should.

fourteen points down against another top four team on their own dung heap. we'd beat geelong at the G i reckon.

not so bad when all is said and done. we must beat freo and the saints though.

Bernie's version of vertigo is when he approaches a 50% winning percentage as a coach. His nose bleeds, his knees go all a quiver and he gets a serious bout of the vapours!

And Lamby's version is when Hampson appears on a footy oval. Same effects but worse. Add paranoid delusions.

Can Bernie fluff another top 4 opportunity?

One moe loss and the swans can jump over us.

The Hardwick selection, coaching, post-game analysis disconnect

"The nature of the games down here are highly contested and we didn't hunt the ball anywhere near to the level that we would like" Hardwick said post-game down at the Cattery.

This is the same man who dropped Miles, one of the RFC’s best contested ball hunters bar none, for a game played on a small ground without Geelong’s best contest ball hunter in Selwood.

Hardwick is either schizophrenic or just plain dumb! I believe he’s dumb with a stubborn streak that has cost the club a lot of games; last Saturday being just another example of those dysfunctional qualities exposed by his selections and his head-in-the-sand game day coaching skills.

He is dishonest with himself; dishonest with his selections and lacks the courage in taking a hard line against non-performers and shrinking violets in the side who continue to wilter in big games.

Cut him loose Richmond and begin the pre-season with a new head coach! >:D

Why would Leppacella stop coaching now and let Dimma fluff it up over the last 2 rounds when they got us to 4th after 21 rounds ???? Bemusing

if that happens then I hope Balmey, Gale and the board are watching very closely.

plenty of slaps on the club's collective back for staying the course with a head coach who has yet to achieve anything of note.

Rance usually plays deepest. nothing unusual about him lining up on Taylor who was their deepest forward.

he is also occasionally beaten once or twice. i can understand why he didnt make moves to the best backline in the league cos he was beaten a couple of times by Taylor. problem was Taylor kept beating him. and Rance ended up at full forward.

What's wrong with the Bernie thread for a good Bernie bagging ???

Take a bow spot on. Never been a Hardwick fan after seeing him in action the first year he too us to the finals. Poor coach who has cost us many games over the journey along with his match selection mates. Will never win us a final!

No. We usually try to lock astbury onto the power forward while trying to release rance to intercept

To you and your girlfriends Brodders17 and Baloo; if you have a comment about the "disconnect" between what Hardwick says and does and does and says I'm sure there are a few on this blog that would be interested to read them; myself included. As for your idiotic, inane, smart arse comments to date - take them and your small minds and annoy somebody else.

Re: The Hardwick selection, coaching, post-game analysis disconnect

I'll join the boys.

There are plenty of threads to bash the coach, we don't need another one.

PS Hardwick does two things in pressers

1 Always complements the opposition
2 Says nothing by choice
