When will Bernie go !!

Yep.
What kind of a club would appoint a coach with NO senior coaching experience, whatsoever?
Only a dumb club run by dumb people,
that's RFC for the last 3 decades.
Which senior club did John Longmire coach at before being given the role as senior coach of Sydney? Conversely two previous appointments of coaches with significant coaching experience at senior level (Terry Wallace and Robert Walls) were disastrous appointments.

Sure there's always going to be exceptions to the rule, but I think you'll find nowadays most clubs prefer to appoint coaches with some senior coaching experience.
It makes a lot of sense.
Let's hope our next senior coaching appointment has some runs on the board somewhere, before he gets the senior gig at RFC.

Longmire was a different need. Sydney had a succesful game plan and a decent list. It was a case of don't fix it if it aint broke.

Longmire was the man in waiting and there was a smooth transition.

In the end I think Sydney were pleasantly surprised as Longmire has proved to be a very good coach in his own right.

I agree that Bevo had a amazing CV of what most considered lower level footy, and i for one thought holy christ when he was in discussions with WB as a potential candidate (Media), when i say HC i meant WOW, i think it translates as it proved the case although i and no one would have predicted how amazing and quick it happened, in saying that...

Who of the guys that did great things as a lower level coach have gone on recently? I remember when unleash the Geash was appointed i was hopeful as from memory he won a bunch at ocean grove?

Dimma without a doubt had his contract processed with belief from the board that things were going to turn, they did, poorly last year and i think we all agree that 2017 is huge for him and his future, should it not go well (which i persoanlly want a great year ahead for me footy watching and RFC, what would be your top 4 and reasons?

Nah. That was Geisch's assistant Brendan McCartney, coached the Grubbers to their first ever senior flag n made it a fourpeat to prove it was no fluke. Bloke called Neeld came along a bit later n did the same, another fourpeat of flags at the Grubbers.
Neither proved successful senior coaching at AFL level.

I think Gieschen first had success as a coach after his playing days at Maffra. Coached Wodongs to 2 flags. He also went west and took West Perth to runners up. Before Richmond he coached Geelong's reserves and there were those that said he had a lot to do with Ayres' success as senior coach there. He coached our reserves from a wooden spoon to a Premiership in his first year with them. Having success as a senior coach these days is far from the be all end all of making it at AFL level. As I said we appointed Walls and Wallace, both of who had success (Walls with a flag) while in charge of their own clubs and they were massive failures. Same with Mick Malthouse at Carlton. There's a magic formula for appointing a coach and we've never gotten it right since Hafey and Jewell.

Geisch didn't coach at Geelong, that was McCartney, he spent ten years there as assistant n development coach after finishing up at the Tigers. He also spent a few years at Essendrugs before he got the Doggies job.

Gieschen was an assistant coach at Geelong in 1995 and 1996, he left and came to Richmond in 1997.

Oops, yep. Bloody missed his Geelong stint in the wiki file. Found it when I looked in one on the other files on the Geisch

Jewell's tenure (and a few years after) shows how stupid we've been with coaches when it comes to egotism.

Spud was rising in 2001, then dropped off, Wallace was rising in 2006, then dropped off and now Dimma was rising up to 2015 and is slowly starting to drop off. I suppose for us we don't see the real character of a coach until he's settled in for a year or three.

Surely, there must be a loophole in our due diligence and interview techniques.

Yep.
We haven't appointed a decent senior coach since Northey.
It all gets back to the people running the show.
Think this administration and administrations before have failed.

Don't be so stupid teabag, it's all Dimma's fault n no-one else's. Everyone knows that.

Clowns appointed him.
Then clowns reappointed him.
The clowns are at fault Masochist.
Everyone who can count to 10 knows that.

What!! Are you suggesting there is more than one issue at fault for our failure to win a flag? Come on Tets, everyone knows that everything is Dimma's fault, you're just trying to be controversial.

I thought you had given up this argument. No one is blaming dimma entirely and everyone recognises there were/are a number of issues that have led us to where we are. The fact is dimma has contributed significantly to these issues and therefore like his chosen assistants and gameplan should have been given the flick. You're the only one who absolves him entirely of any fault and think he should be given unlimited years until he has a list of all the best players in the league.

Was having a light hearted conversation with Tets there Colonel. Don't really need you jumping in n rewriting history. Would appreciate it if you would refrain from telling everyone what you think I'm thinking. I'm more than capable of doing that myself, without getting it as wrong as you.

I am blaming Damian completely for where Tigers sit. He has had seven years to forge a side at Punt Road & what have we got from him ?. Zilch . Even his pressers are boring as bat poo even after throwing in a towel. Got another 24 months with the twerp unless, unless, unless, unless someone at Punt Lane gets some balls ( that will not be Peggy will it ) & hooves him on west of Oodnadatta.

The Hardwick thread seems locked for some reason so I'll post this here. ???

Reckon Dimma has had the lowest profile of every coach in the AFL so far this off season.
Clearly a directive from somewhere. Smart business.
