When will Bernie go !!

Well Hardwick has put me at ease now. We had too many teenagers in the side on the weekend and so the result was not to be unexpected.

He's setting it up for the return of Morris

'Nick Vlastuin' was his answer to who may be the 2nd tall forward.

Not that I agree but guess he was simply suggesting that Nick would provide a contest. Who would you play as 2nd tall TO?

Yep Bernie's expecting a 13 goal to 12 shoot out against the blues. Aiming for the sky.

It's always better to keep things close Harry.

As DH said, our supporters come to the game expecting a contest and a competitive game. A blowout win would be boring.

Too true. Those big margin wins are a snorefest

He also praised the new coaches for bringing a more defensive game plan to the club. I guess we must have been too attacking last season. He hid it well I'll give him that. All that stop start footy, going backwards, sideways and around in circles was the perfect camouflage for the devil may care, break neck, balls to wall attacking footy we were actually playing.

I thought we were going to release the shackles etc this season. That through me also when he said that.

yeahbut whats he suppose to say?

'Yeah look, Hipwood is a chance to come in this week?"

Old Mrs. Hupboard would've loved to cook the kids a lamb roast with all the trimmings and pudding and custard for just desserts

I couldn't bring myself to watch the interview last night.
I'm so over hardwick.
Did he say anything at all that made any sense?

I didnt see it either.

but read that he said he basically had a meltdown last year and single handedly butchered our year.

which not many blokes would say on TV.

Exactly. The cupboard is bare. But he's not going to say that.

Alot of us already knew that. BTW I thought last years horror show was the assistants fault

Yep.
It all gets back to that decision to extend his contract.
The culprits responsible for that, along with their failure to address our list management issues, are all still in place.
It's the old leadership from the top issue which has been the root cause of the club's problems or 30 plus years at RFC.
Something things never change.

He also didnt have an answer when asked if we could win a final without a second tall.
Surely within games when match-ups allow Astbury could roll forward and try and do some damage. Give him a licence.

Or for the sake of Jack and structures may have to weaken the back half a smidge to strengthen the forward half - use Batch or Garthwaite.
Throw Astbury forward, at keast try it. Ruck K Mac Not Grigg.

Or play Nank deep and ruck Ivan. Do something, anything. Just cant be that small though will get found out down the line against atrong teams in big games..

Yep, pretty much what he said. Can only imagine hiw confused the players were - hence Swans 20 goals to 2 or something.

He should go for allowing the club to be embarrassed like that. Sounded like he lost his way completely and did not know what to do .. wtf..?

How about 'let's move it firwards not sideways and see what happens..' or 'lets try and kick as many goals as we can..'

On that alone he should have been let go.

Out of depth.

I guess that's why they have surrounded him with better assistants.

Two of those last three game beltings were beltings and showed the players didn't give a stuff about the jumper or the RFC. Now the coach says basically he was cooked but still taking his $ salary from the club.

Did anyone ask him about the '10 goal ' comment or they sorry for him and avoided it. ?

I've stuck by him for long periods but he will show again that he is out of his depth with noinmagination on game day &Ono plan B or C when teams come at us or they structure up differently to take the game away from us.

Just revert back to ball retention, bomb it to Jack, kick to the boundary , go sideways and backwards mantra.

Oh well

Let's see Sunday who is in / out and how Damien attacks this game.

:hihi

Hardwick needs to get creative with what he has at his disposal. Creativity & risk are not his strong suit as a coach.

Not Floss.

I'd probably look at moving Riewoldt out to CHF and trying Lennon out of the square.
I'm not a huge fan of Ben's but there's no doubt he can sniff a goal, is a good kick at the sticks & a reasonable overhead mark.
Another option is moving Astbury forward with Garthwaite & Vlastuin to go back into defence.
If don't want to mess with Astbury from defence & Lennon doesn't work I'd go to Chol to create a contest.
Mabs needs senior exposure at some stage. No point having a tall floundering in reserves with a desperate need for a 2nd tall fwd.
Just needs to create a contest.

Only time would tell if any of the above would be successful but they have to try something.

100% agree with all that

He was forced to do too much because because the assistants were providing SFA support.

See. Easy to play your game H.
