When will Bernie go !!

“We’re very competitive, we’ll keep games close,” he said.

“We’re not going to win games by 10 goals, we’re not going to lose games, hopefully, by 10 goals either. It’s always going to be an arm wrestle.

“Sometimes you’re going to keep your head above water and sometimes you’re going to go under.”

Sums up hardwicks coaching philosophy. Aiming to keep our head just the above water. :hihi

Yep.

I just absolutely hated those comments to the point it made me angry.

What kind of a philosophy is this loser instilling into the team when we hit a lead?? He's basically admitting that if we ever dominate a team and build a lead, our approach is not to keep the foot on the pedal and bury a side, but basically try and 'save' a game rather than win it. How many times has it happened this season?? Yesterday, 29 points in front, 23, 13, and get run over. Build a lead and let the opposition whittle away our lead by playing negative football, kickin sideways,..etc.

Coach of the year shhhyeah right.

I don't know if it matters when he goes now. The club stuffed up a few years ago keeping him. The star players are now wasted.

No replacement A graders coming through for the next coach.

Weak leadership.

We have a club that needed a leg re-broken to reset it right. Our board decided on herbal cures and wind chimes.

The stupid loser has no answer when coaches change things up. It's always going to be an arm wrestle when you have no answer. It's almost like it's accepted we will be chased down after doing our oppo homework getting off to a great start.

Just get rid of this dud or make him sit up the back in the coaches box during a game. Give the reigns to Caracella on game day. Let Dipstick do the planning during the week or just let him do he oppo analysis just keep him away from how we play and move the ball.

The club should've made the call after the Port Adelaide debacle. This club is so stupid, stubborn and afraid to make the right call we'll end up wasting some of the best players we've ever had at the club.

100% correct. We've wasted the prime of 5 guns with dourwick at the wheel. It'll be another rebuild when the 4 remaining hang uo the boots.

You happy with the quality the recruiters have surrounded our 4 guns with Harry, or should Dimma and co have been able to turn *smile* into strawberry jam?

Point of order.....Conca ahead of Lynch in 2010 and CEllis behind Wright in 2014. Point sill stands though i.e. we have a 2nd quality tall in our F50 and we are contenders.

As early as last week we were being lauded for implementing a game plan both enjoyable to watch and highly competitive. A far cry from 2017. Thanks for proving my point re fickleness of the human condition. Sometimes what happens further up the ground influences what the ball carrier does with the ball.

Youthful inexperience.

Youthful inexperience.

Right up there in considerations IMO.

This youthful inexperience is a copout. A weak incorrect excuse.

The teams ages were almost identical yesterday. games 95 v 91.

Both teams had 10 players with less than 50 games.

Sydney an additional 3 players less than 100 to our 2.

Youth or inexperience was NOT a reason we got beat yesterday.

Our time to contend is now.

These constant references to not being a side that wins by 10 goal is doing my head in. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and that's what's happening. We get 5 or 6 goals ahead and stop doing what got us there. Then we go into preserving the lead mode because we "aren't a side that wins by big margins". He's an idiot at his press conferences.

No idea what I posted? But you're hanging on my every post on the Griffiths thread :rofl

Ps: we haven't had the ignore button for a few years now but carry on...

Recruiting under Frank, list management by Blair and coaching by Hardwick have been sub standard for years.
Francis has been moved to a part time role, however Blair and Hardwick are still at the helm.
Incredible to say the least.
All because Gale & Co ignored all the warning signs for years.

It took an abysmal season last year and a failed board challenge last year for Gale to finally heed the warnings he had refused to listen to for years.
Balmey and Leppacella were great gets.
However, what about our dire list management?
Not to mention that appalling decision by Gale & Co to extend Hardwick's contract.
Now we are paying the price for all those years of neglect and sleeping at the wheel.

Those comments would surely play on the players mind by Hardwick

How can they go from playing the footy they did & have getting those leads and then go playing this safe, sideways, bombing and ball retention football?

Are the players afraid then to go against the coach and go in their shells?

BUT he isn't the one who has been missing those crucial shots for goals in our close losses or missing targets by hand & foot causing turnover goals???

Game after we get a lead looks like a Ross Lyon putrid style.

Would like one of the guys on the couch to question Hardwick on we are never going to be team that wins by 10 goals comment . It won't happen though as their all good at having a dig from the outside but when a guest is in studio it becomes a love in

In 2016 the players downed tools when it became apparent that the senior coach had zigged while the rest of the comp zagged.

And now we find ourselves having won only two of the last seven games. Substantial leads in several, only to suddenly lose run and dare.

Hardwick is a poor match day tactician, we all know that.

We also know this team is capable of good, hard attacking footy.

If Carlton happen to beat us next week we're probably done for the year. There are five or six teams pushing up underneath who will be only too happy to take our place.

As usual, Bernie will look to the players to bail him out. He has been exposed as a masterful blanketing coach, a man who extracts great joy in turning games into a gritty arm wrestle. He has stubbornly refused to give the players their heads and will always raise the shield when he has access to surplus of swords.

Clearly, some attacking mechanisms have been added this year, but where Dimma has been found out time and again is on match day. Too often he'll revert to playing it safe and flat out refuses to blow games open.

The sooner he is replaced with someone who understands our list the better.

So you want him replaced by someone who understand the list, like you do Carts?

If so, then you will get your rebuild!

Is he on drugs? What coach would ever send that message to a playing group??

Twice..!
He said it earlier in year too.

We clearly have enough talent to challenge top four.

But where are the young stars apart from Rioli?

Where is the future spine?

We are heading toward a rebuild quicker than folks think.

Can imagine the quarter time speech from dimma.

"I know we are 6 up but this swans team is a great team. They have champions, premiership players and a great exciting young core coming up. They are what we are aspiring to be. They have us covered everywhere except for the coaches box as Longmire has proven he is a shocker at the mcg.

Bring it in now boys. Grigg take the ruck they won't know how to handle a 6 foot ruckmAn Dusty go to full forward they won't be expecting that either. Edwards, Rioli I know you have not seen much of it but you can stay out there for the experience. Prestia and caddy, we are paying you both too much so you can play on ball.

Jack, remember keep inside the 50, that is the defensive 50. Keep pushing into that back half, unless it is the last 60 seconds of the game and we are winning by a point.

Alright let's go boys let's give our supporters what they want. Let's turn this into a contest, a slugfest, go give them some defensive forward pressure.

If Dusty chases the money we may be in an intimidate transition (if not full rebuild) situation.
