When will Bernie go !!

“We’re very competitive, we’ll keep games close,” he said.

“We’re not going to win games by 10 goals, we’re not going to lose games, hopefully, by 10 goals either. It’s always going to be an arm wrestle.

“Sometimes you’re going to keep your head above water and sometimes you’re going to go under.”

Sums up hardwicks coaching philosophy. Aiming to keep our head just the above water. :hihi

I can't accept that. We play within our limitations? Sooner or later, players will get tired of this mantra and just fall off.....the first sign of a pending coach sacking.

The board shouldn't accept that either. A second rate mentality from a second rate coach that has permeated the playing group. He needs to go to prevent the players from being irreparably handbraked.

He has said this a few times now, we won't win by 10 , and won't lose by 10. But we are in games and they will be close games.
Not much point when you can't win them...
Surely you just strive to win by as much as you can.
Have had a gutfull of his mindset

Sounds like a coach aiming for and happy with mediocrity. Happy to lose as long as it's not by much.

Really poor attitude for any elite sportsman, coach or club to have.

Just about a sackable statement for mine.

What a disgraceful comment.

Can someone take control of the club and make the decision. Everyone can see it, it's time to act.

Benny? Balmey? Someone?

I know press conference post match are for show... But the real coach does come through the crap they might speak. I watched Dimma today and thought how can his negative accepting mindset NOT adversely influence players for the worse.

Just remembered his On The Couch on Monday night......unless 'oh, look something just turned up, maybe next time' happens.....

I'm the same re press conferences , rarely listen to them , waste of time and anything they say can be twisted by a journo to make it sound how they want too. However I don't like his public saying of we don't win big stuff, no need for it and we should have the bury/ kill mentality.

I just wonder what the players have in there head when we are 5 goals up ? Is it lets get to 10 goals up or is it *smile* I hope we hang on. I know good golfers when there 4 under they want to get to 5,6,7 not gee I hope I don't stuff up and finish 3 under. Mental toughness massive thing in sport.

Fickle nature of the human condition never ceases to amaze me.

Reason we lost yesterday is that we had a number of 5 foot toddlers playing in the forward 50 against a physically mature defence, no ruck cover and no 2nd KF.

All eggs were put in the Hammer and Griffiths basket at the beginning of the season and unfortunately this has proved to be a poor list management decision.

Dimma has actually coached well this season when you consider the cattle at his disposal. This is a direct result of poor recruiting decisions in the past.

Throw a Lynch or Wright into the team and we would be flag favourites sitting on top of the ladder right now.

Are you saying the coach has no say in the players recruited for him to use?

Senior coaches do not spend the yr watching junior footy CTT. They would seek counsel where necessary but ultimately trust that people in key list management/recruitment positions would make the right decisions.

Has said it twice now

I do recall him saying a while back that we're not a team that wins by 10 goals but i reckon he took it further yesterday. It seems the coach has so little confidence in his own players that once the players reach a certain margin, the negative handbrake is applied. That can't do much confidence for the players. No wonder they fumble and make the wrong decisions when things tighten up... their own coach doesn't think they're good enough to apply the blowtorch.
