Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Its not either or Lovey. Tigers hunt in packs. We only had the three amigos together for 4 games. Butler probably makes Rioli more dangerous and vice versa just like Lynchy should make Jack even more dangerous.

Absolutely agree, I was just using a theoretical if you could only choose one of the 3 who would it be? Going to be interesting next year with Lynch in. Reiwoldt in leaves 4 spots. Personally I think Caddy is too good in the air and on the ground to leave out making him a hard match up. I can only see two of Rioli/Castagna/Butler in the starting 18 if you want guys like Higgins, Martin, Edwards to rotate through the forward line as well. One of those 3 could end up being depth player and I doubt t will be Rioli which leaves a fight between Castagna and Butler. Will have to wait and see.

Our forward pressure game went to *smile* as soon as he was out of the team.
If anyone thinks he isn't any good watch the Essendon game. Hurley still has nightmares

Agree, has the same defensive impact as George but with more attacking weapons.

Butler's absence up forward was felt at the back end of last year.
There's been a lot of discussion about a potential move from Rioli to more midfield minutes but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Butler also spends more time on the ball next year in an outside role. His genuine speed & skill could be a real weapon with increased stamina.
One who could make the transition..

Wasnt just his defensive pressure that we missed ,

if we go back to the first half of the season , when we would put on a blitz in attack late in games and put teams to the sword ,

he was a prime mover in those attacking raids with his pace and ability to keep sprinting late in the game while others were tiring

There is always a game that sets a standard of your season.
Last year it was the port away game that lead us to the ultimate success and this year the adelaide game at the G proved the season changer. We lost both bulter and Graham and they proved to be the difference.

And he provided another reliable avenue to goal

Was a big loss to us late in the year. Important player and i think he should rotate through the middle as an outside mid. Loves a run, a few bounces and a goal.

said it before and I'll say again. Very important to us. One of the goals of the year in the first round (third quarter). Getting chased on the half forward near boundary, bounces the ball, holds the ball cross wise and kicks left, the ball flys and completes 45 degrees and goes through the middle. A magic goal. This is when I knew this kid is real good!

8th in the BnF in a premiership year. Says it all.

We missed him a lot in 2018. Between he and Rioli's injuries, we barely saw the three amigos together in 2018.

Yep the mozzies never got a good go at it together all year. Hopefully next year the band is back together up there.

Did some Nathan G Brown like things in that game. Dropped off a bit after a few games but is a possible match winner on his day.

Watching a few of this seasons games there’s little doubt we did miss him, though our record was very good, we certainly were different without Butler or Rioli. Be very interesting to see what role Castagna plays with Lynch coming in and the strong possibility of Dusty spending a lot of time forward.

I still think we will go with the 3 smalls (Butler Rioil & Costagna)plus Jack, Lynch , Caddy/Martin
