Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Would have said Broad but will have a role to lock on on of the mobile pie forwards. Would love a repeat of his last game v pies (Broad) 18 touches , 6 marks, 3 tackles...

After seeing the magpies wilt against the giants fwd pressure in the second and third quarters....I reckon they will be tempted to bring Butts in. But yes the issue would certainly be - who for?

Its always been Higgins. The sausage king plays well, amazing endurance for a first year player, natural footballer so knows where to go to get the ball but lacks explosive speed and therefore impact. He is a great first year player but can be sat on and be only be marginally effective against good opposition.

Problem for Butler is that while his best is better than Higgins best (this year anyway), you know Higgins will do reasonably well so the dice roll is whether Butler's best is on the table. And don't think Higgins doesn't know that his spot is on the line for Butler - he does - came out in what was said/not said in the media's mandatory post-game interview with him.

As a sidelight for the club. The media love him - if Jack gets dropped and Dan does not play well, recriminations will abound.

Got to be honest though. If the only selection dilemma we have is choosing between Jack and Dan then we are doing ok. Likely the relative impact of both players will be similar (more possessions for Jack, more goals for Dan) and so you are only gambling that you might get a bit more out of Dan but a risk there that you might get a bit less as well if his injury gets aggravated for whatever reason. Decision is sufficiently marginal that the game result won't be based on this call.

I love butler but can't possibly see how they could bring him in. He is a confidence player and I expect would struggle

Could come in for Broad. Was thinking about this last night. Would be a very bold move but the extra run could prove very valuable.

If he were to be considered as a placement for a current fit player - the selectors would have to be 100% confident that he was 100% fit enough to run out the entire game at full pace to even consider this. Hence a very risky proposition

Dan has not played a full game for something like 3 months, so is therefore not match hardened. You cannot bring a player into a Prelim final if he isn't match hardened.
We tried that a few years back when Griffo & Conca were brought in for an elimination final against Norf & look what happened then.

No way should Dan be picked for this week.

I would think Conca may be the unlucky one.

Yep. I'd say Conca or Dash Kam. I reckon we're gonna go with a risky change this week coz we need more firepower in attack against this lot.

Disagree. Both times we've played Collingwood we've scored over 100 points and last game in July there was no Butler and Graham was missing but we had Townsend and Baker who both gave us limited value. We will win this by choking Collingwood with our pressure and limiting their opportunities. I don;t think we'll be making any changes.

we will roll the dice on Butler - need his speed in the GF.

Higgins can play Conca role.

Dont think there will be a change specially McIntosh who had a fantastic game against the Hawks
Conca would be unlucky to miss and with the Pies midfield running 8 deep think he will be given a job to do possibly on Sidebottom

No chance on both of those missing out.

Especially Macintosh. You don’t get dropped after being one of our best in the first final.

Agreed. Remember Dion was winning the ball, until he got hit in the ribs. We have two main weapons Caddie & Jack, include the group troops, we have a proven forward line hard to stop. Conca and KMac will both play. we need the additional stopper around the ground, Conca is our man. Kmac running into big form.

Yeah, I don't want either out. It'll be interesting to see what decision is made at the MC.

That’s what I reckon. Play your weapons.
