Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Fast high pressure repeat effort medium to small forwards will be on the menu of every recruiter. It makes sense that they are so valuable. Not only do they keep the ball in the forward line creating extra opportunities to score, they also stop opposition teams move the ball quickly and effectively from their back half and into attack. They slow down transition and help defenders set up defensive structures. Rance astbury and grimes can thank our small forwards for making their life easier this year.

Rance actually mentioned that in an interview somewhere , can't remember exactly where ( there has been so much footage watched this year its all a bit of a blur )

No need to fix what’s not broken, however I’m not convinced he’ll be starting 22 come round 1, wouldn’t be shocked to see him do the preseason with the midfield group, can see him getting a chance on a wing.

After all the changes this year I can still see them throwing the team around a bit more and agree players like Butler and Rioli getting more mid time. It will also all depend on how Bolton and Stengle develop for changes to occur in the forward line and Menadue and Markov for changes to the backline.

It's good to have options and pressure for spots across the team - will ensure continued support improvement.

First year in the side and only Jack and Dusty kicked more goals. I'll be staggered if he's fit and not picked.

8th in our BnF, I thought he was a star this year. Can't see why he wouldn't be a best 22 lock.

Dan had a great year but he still hasn't hit his peak yet - he can get a lot better.

This. There is a great part in the last quarter of the GF when he does a chase down on Laird running through the middle. Any other team in the comp and Laird waltzes through the middle and hits Jenkins or some other softy lace out. This bit of play ends with Vlastuin spoiling a pass on the boundary. Him and George would be saving us 6 goals a game with this stuff.

After an injury ravaged early part of his career and thought to be a cert for delisting, showed what he could do preseason and followed it up with a great season. A reliable kick (usually) scintillating pace, tackles hard and has a fair tank. Not sure he will transition to midfield but promising for a wing berth. A seasons find is our Daniel

And so can many others...which makes our future so bright. They've only had one year of experience with the high-pressure positive ball movement game plan. So looking forward to the next few years.

Noticed this as well. Think the club sees his future as a mid forward not the other way around

he has terrific agility and time to go with his speed, he often could avoid trouble in the congestion.
has some traits to play a lambert type running mid as he develops and matures

His biggest weakness is sometimes in congestion he can be like a deer in the headlights. Needs a bit more poise but has a lot of tools to work with. I am confident Richmond's development is now good enough to get the best out of him

Yeah, a bit of composure and he can take his game to the next level. Oh, and not dropping sitter marks would help too.

sitter marks and missed tackles. he definitely can improve his consistency and efforts.
for me this is due to mental endurance and will come with maturity.
As he matures and gets stronger he will grow into the midfield role.

will probs be as consistent as ShEd for a time, and long term reach Labletts level (hardworking #5)

One of the oddest moments of the Grand Final was the last quarter when he seemed to stop and stare at the ball which was at his feet.

I have no idea what he was trying to do there. Was he waiting for someone to pick it up so he could lay a tackle?
