Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Our rising star small forward. Full of running and great pressure

Has got some form back and pushed George to the edge of omission from the 22.

George or Oleg to make way for Caddy i suspect.

just so composed.

knows he can slip the tackle, which takes supreme confidence. really like this guy.

George is not getting much of the ball but his pressure still good.

One might argue that Caddy missing and Castagna not having shots at goal is a major reason our scoring accuracy has improved.

2 goals 2 behinds and 3 goal assists. Playing well.
Getting better and better. A doubting Thomas was I, he is surprising the hell out of me I am happy to say.

Its funny how people see the game, personally reckon the AFL has the biggest gulf between how you see a game on the tv and at the ground due to the size of the playing field, there is so much more going on than the myopic view of the camera.

As people seem to like stats and like to bag George with his 4 touches but how about:

Butler - 1 tackle, 14 pressure acts
George - 4 tackles, 17 pressure acts

George is creating plenty without actually touching the ball, Butler is getting involved more offensively. Both are doing well and a big part of why we are functioning so well and scoring so heavily on turnover this season.

Interesting insight I got when my young bloke was at Chargers last season - one of the main stats they emphasised was "pressure acts" It was like their no1 KPIs measured.

That is a ridiculous stat to be no.1. "Pressure Acts" is a pretty subjective term too.

not really. It's tackles, smothers, spoils etc. They are just as easy to count as say hitouts.

Dunno why recruiters ignore the gun ball winners instead of focusing on the defensive plodders.

It's not about that. You are looking at it the wrong way.

When you think about it, theres method to the madness. They are dealing with elite 17 year old who already know how to get the ball and who have probably found it easy to get kicks throughout their junior career. They are emphasising the importance of doing the team stuff. Disposal stats will lokk after themselves -the team stuff is what will ultimately win the game.

they are teaching a young Jake Kelly the importance of spoiling when he doesnt have the ball.

Once again, bang on Posh.

Folks need to take a look at the entire F50 to see what George is doing off the ball. There's a reason Towner has found space of late.

Our three amigos work beautifully around the larger targets.

Pfft. Those guys also know how to do all that too - they are elite in all areas.

Its a key reason we won the flag.

Reckon I saw Geelong switch the ball once from the backline against us in their final, the GWS did it a few times and the crows twice? Our pressure and defensive running (mainly from the HF/FF) prevented the easy outlet. Made defending easier and forced the bomb down the line. It and more direct play were massive in our transformation from *smile* results and *smile* to watch to a joy. (and dusty going from demi-god to full blown Zeus helped).

We didn't win many ball winning stats (UP & CP) but our pressure when we didn't have it and efficiency when we did was huge.
