Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

I have no idea what he was trying to do there. Was he waiting for someone to pick it up so he could lay a tackle?
He was waiting for the Crow to bend down to pick it up so he could nutmeg him.

One of the oddest moments of the Grand Final was the last quarter when he seemed to stop and stare at the ball which was at his feet.
It did look weird.

I thought he was just gonna kick it off the ground towards goal - almost have a shot - but he just stood there and looked at it. Definitely a strange moment.

yes, looked like a soccer move

holding the ball, then passing off to a player coming from behind, although he never kicked it

he was a soccer player as a kid i think

How much more improvement does Butler have in him?

With the high quality goals he kicked he has X factor that puts him in the top handful of players in the league. Without playing a lot of senior footy and the building of his tank I expect more from Butler from now on.

His biggest weakness is sometimes in congestion he can be like a deer in the headlights. Needs a bit more poise but has a lot of tools to work with. I am confident Richmond's development is now good enough to get the best out of him
Agree he just freezes at times.I think the club has got the best out of him at this point.

With the game so much about speed, run an carry he is very suited to the modern game, I’m however not convinced he will be around for a long time, i think he’ll be over taken in his forward role, he may just have the tools to reinvent as a an outside mid/ wingman.

Bizarre moment against Giants I think, he was coming through the centre square and just as he ran into a wall of players he took a bounce

Massive upside. He is the type of player that only has to increase his possessions from 10 to 15 and he will be a massive part of our side. The road runners lambert, Prestia and him are half the reason we won the flag.

He is the worst mark in the league, so not dropping uncontested overhead and chest marks would be a start.

Bit of Boomer Harvey about Dan, without the 'me-me-me' factor.

Will have his new Number tomorrow and locker between Griig & Jack Riewoldt

Butler #7
Castagna #11

Together they are 7/11

He was in Ballarat with the cup and had George and Broady tagging along. Lots of nice photos taken by tiger fans who are friends if the Butler family. I'm not in town so missed the boat :-\

I reckon he is probably the player most at risk of dropping back to the 2's, along with maybe McIntosh & Broad. Markov & Menadue (and others) pushing for their spots, and 2 or 3 will pressure Butler.

I reckon he's a star. Can't see him being at risk of dropping out of the 22 anytime soon. Reckon Castagna is more likely to be replaced next year than Butters.

Finishing top 10 in the BnF would suggest otherwise.

I see Dan Butler as a player that will along with Daniel Rioli move into a midfield role in the future, He was played as a mid in his junior days and will be very good at it , He is that player that does what Lids used to do where he grabs the ball and runs out of the center to deliver into the foward line and is extremely proficient with his burst of speed and is taller than most think 182cm.

Kids got more to his game than just small foward
