Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

If he left, I would be exceptionally disappointed. Seriously, what is the point in taking a risk on these damaged "tough life" blokes like Stack & Pickett if they are not prepared to then be loyal & respectful to the club which took the chance? If both were to be gone within 2 years due to either a better deal or gross negligence, then i wouldn't be inclined to take another risk with that type again. Rather we took risk on blokes like Aarts, Short Baker who stay loyal & respectful for the long haul ride

Who could seriously begrudge a 28 year old with 4 kids on $60kpa trying to make the most of the first and last big money contract of their life? He’s a useful football player for us, but seriously, Pickett should be taking the biggest contract offer he gets at the end of the year and running with it.

Would love him to play more midfield mins against the Cats this week.

We need more clearances going our way to put their backline , especially Taylor & Henderson under immense pressure.

We are wasting Marlion on the wing and not letting him play to his strengths.

Put Markov on the Wing Broad back to defence along with Grimes and Marlion in the mid rotation.

With Grimes a little suss still I much prefer Broad back there to siffen up the defence and to take pressure of Dylan.

The drafting of Pickett has already paid off IMO. He’s already a DUAL PREMIERSHIP player with Richmond. Soon to be triple.... :p

Look, taking a 27 and a half yr old was a long shot. He’ll be 29 for season 2021. Odds are he’s got 40-ish games of AFL footy in him from seasons 2021/22. It’s ok.

Pickett's grand final was a great story, but we could have selected anyone from our 40 man squad for that game and still won.

Stack's year was interesting though. He was really really good, when a lot of our talent was out.

Stack played an important part in a premiership year. Whatever his career from this point forward.

He did. Hope he doesn't waste his talent going forward.

Yep Stacky actually kick started our 12 game winning streak to the flag after the bye with a great (4 goal, 15 disposal, 4 tackle) performance against the saints.

Not really convinced any team is offering him @ 29 a massively better contract than he would get from us tbh , so not really thinking about it from a "setting him up for life" perspective. Who TF overpays for a 29 yo rookie who is purely a cream player? Is a 15 possesion pg midfielder who cant really handle a bigger role than he already has. With how much career he has already lost, why not stay where u can have the best life experience you can? I think if he can stay a tiger & end up with 2 or 3 afl gf medals possibly, that would give him WAY more opportunities for career life after footy. If he leaves now to spend 2-3 years being part of a Freo rebuild, his career will end up being just a fun pub trivia question

Two-year deal at 325k pa? That'd be a good offer, wouldn't it, RJ?

I like him on the wing. Gets over the ground and gets stronger and cleaner as the game wears on. Competitive in the air and gets there.

Can be very scratchy early but he's inexperienced.

He's coming along nicely with the Tigers and I think he's still got another gear.

If he went to another club he'd need to learn another game plan/style. So he'd go backwards for a bit.

Stay and rack up the medals, Marlion!

I

I flicked through it at the bookshop trying to decide if I should buy it, and inadvertently read the whole thing.

Pretty much what I did, Coburg.
Next time I was in the book store I flicked through it again for a second time and realised I hadn't missed anything.
Dusty and his ghost-writer very much adhere to the "pictures are worth a thousand words" principle.

Ia that reported or is that something made up on BF? I guess the avg salary is about 325k so anyone in our best 22 should be getting that - Marlion is definitely in our best 22 - so why wouldn't we be able to offer the same? I dont see much reason for Marlion to have 20-30 players getting paid more than him at RFC, especially as we can do it under a shorter contract based on his age - The one thing we cant do is be offering people long term deals above the average. If keeping him is $300k for 2 years, then the club should sort that out - he deserves to be paid the medium wage, or very close to it. Unless Freo can offer $150k more over the 2 years I really dont think he should leave as he has an opportuntity to have one of the most memorable careers in history. There is money in that after footy life. If he just heads to freo, he will become another Krakour, Davis or Ellen story - a guy that popped up and happened to have his best game in a granny. You dont hear much about those blokes anymore.

I honestly cant see any reason why Freo would pay overs on his worth. He is not a leader, he is 30 next year. He is not a high possession player and in the wrong team could be totally exposed - he is a cream player. I doubt the reports that they are offering him an offer that is considerable overs. If we can't get close enough to an offer for him based on a 2 year contract to convince him to stay - then our cap problem is diabolical. We are in real strife

Should've picked up Riccardi.
Williams told our recruiting guys about him.
Hine is gone because he ignored him too.

Find him a bit underwhelming, and just doesnt get enough of it as someone who plays fulltime in the guts. Also bumps when he should tackle and disposal is extremely poor. Would probably have Ross over him.

Not a great game tonight, some pretty poor disposal. But last couple of games before were pretty good.

I really liked his game tonight.
Thought he was tough and committed in important 50/50 contests and got up and down the field well.
He has progressively built every week and now owns his wing.
Easy to forget this is effectively his first year at the level.
Going to be key for us in the next 6 weeks.
