Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Missing out on F1 is a huge price to pay.
We have managed to root our draft selections for both 22 and 23.
Exactly.

If Soldo really wants to go and GWS want ( obviously because they requested he fly up and do a medical ) then Soldo & 31 is enough.

Hold firm

They already got 12 & 19.

I know I keep going on about that but I don’t want to lose out on any future picks next year.

All our picks this year are practically gone!

I know it will be hard but GWS have already on traded their pick 12 they got from us.

worst case, we don't get him this year, we get him next with F1 & 31
There is no guarantee that happens next year!

We have seen this play out before.

We will get crucified in the media, GWS & maybe his manager and Hopper next year will decide on another club?

Hun reporting that GWS making a play for Omeara. Why not just keep Hopper if they intended to draft a mature aged midfielder who would be on solid money. Strange

Soldo must be blewing with GWS over the yrs and the money.
Apprantly he still owed 2 yrs at 380k
He must want more to move.
That's the hold up

If the bench does go to 5 next season then the best thing we can do is trade Soldo so they won't be tempted to play him.

If a ruckman can't offer something around the ground then they are yesterday's man.

Coaching innovation has made the ruckman redundant recently, starting with us having Grigg and part time defenders doing it, then Scott took it further by having Stanley take centre bounces and then play centre half back.

The way forward is going to be mobile guys who are just tall enough to ruck but can either hold down a key position or have the running power to play as big midfielders, like Blicavs.

Good for Soldo!! He says he is happy at Richmond. why would he move for the same deal? GWS must be *smile* club

I don't think it's overs, depending on the pick we get back. Soldo isn't worth a lot in my eyes. Sure he can tap. But is a liability most other places on the field. Miller went past him. Ryan will soon too.
It also means with the $750k expected rise in the salary cap next year, and Soldo's wage going, we've got room for more. Wonder if we're going all in for a key forward next season.

And if we are, and we net two top line midfielders and an established free agent key forward, all the hand wringing will be redundant. In Blair we trust

Hhhmm interesting thinking. But It will have to be a free agent Key Fwd as we will not have a rd 1 draft pick next year to use as a trade

Did you rate Taranto and hopper in their draft years bully?
I had Taranto at 5, I thought Hugh McCluggage was the standout that year with McGrath at 2.

Hopper I had at 5 also, so I definitely rated him, I just don't feel the outlay justifies the benefits at this particular juncture. Given he's a free agent next year I think I would have handled things a bit differently.

If GWS are after O’Meara then Hopper is definitely on his way.

Maybe that’s why they want Pick 31 from on to on trade to Hawks for O’Meara.
Hard to imagine Hopper being a salary dump if they are bringing in Soldo, Bedford and potentially JOM. Maybe they just needed to rid one of the bigger salaries and not both. They are defiantly bringing in a bit of salary too. Bruhn and the other young kid would've been on peanuts anyway

They also wouldn't have been able to afford Hoppers asking price next year.
Maybe they can pay at his current contract level, but not his expected next contract.
Similar to us and Ellis

Lets agree to disagree on this one

Bowes had the choice where he goes and clearly the cats have done the work as Bowes had 5 other options and he made that selection and was not upto the clubs. He probably see's his chances of playing beyond 2024 higher at the cats than the other teams
It’s been well documented that the reason Bowes picked Geelong was because they had shown interest in trading for him during the year before the salary dump option was even thought of. It’s the only place he can go without feeling like the steak knives
