Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Since when has any club had free agent compo around 5-8?

Are we talking about Neale and Cripps?
What I am saying is that they will potentially get a first round pick and that pick is set at the one after the one they would already have.
That's what they will be expecting based on the sort of offers he will get ( McCartney has already said that) and it will depend on where they finish what the pick number is. My suggestion of 5-8 is that I would expect them to finish in the bottom portions of the ladder.
Chip Frawley was pick 3 compensation to melbourne from memory when he went to Hawthorn
It is based on the contract and the finishing position of the team, not who they are

Sorry if I’m on the wrong thread , however with all this analysis of the big doofus rucks , I see the game evolving where the “2nd” ruck types will become more the norm , imho Rucks are something you must have , however you don’t necessarily need to have a superstar one, obviously its great to have a top line Ruck .

Its a bit contradicting but I think Natanui is the perfect example , rated as the best ruck by many over the last decade ( imho very overrated) however he has been part of a team with plenty of AAs in every part of the field , however when they win a flag , he has no part in it .

Again I think ruck craft is great , however the amount of times a perfect tap to a moving player is achieved is minimal, proven for years and years great clearance players ( rovers, ruck rovers, midfields , stoppage stars ) win the ball of either ruck and hit, I’d imagine a great amount of times in a ruck contest neither ruckman actually wins the hitout , in fact I think there was a time we set up to lose ruck hit outs and did it extremely well.

Obviuosly Nank will be our starting ruck, but it’s not because he’s a great tap ruckman , it’s because he’s a competing beast that is good around the ground , he’s good enough at what he does to be a triple premiership player. Anyway imho , we always start with Nank , however I have no issue having Miller, Balta and Biggy types been our “ second” rucks and in time , I can see us and other teams going with 2 2’s , basically if you can’t play around the ground you become a liability, I’ve been a fan of Soldo , however he’s winning taps so often go straight to the opposition, is our mids ? Or is it poor execution from Soldo ?

Recent great Rucks are considered great because of them basically been a 4th midfielder, not just because they are tall.

Yep.

And the secret formulas’ that no one really knows about. Instructions are locked in Gil’s office and is opened when it involves Richmond or any multiple winning successful flag winning team.

It can be anything the AFL wants it to be.
I think it is some time since compo has been inside rather than (Ablett)?-at the back of the 1st round.
Given its history there are no guarantees that GWS would be offered yet another early pick.

Hopper deal agreed. Hopper and GWS future 3rd for Future 1st, 31 and Soldo.

Soldo told both clubs on Friday that he has agreed to move

Would have preferred Lollingwoods F2 and that’s seems fair but it is what it is. Blair overpaid again

Lynch was first round compensation. Frawley as I said.

Have a look at Geelong’s and Sydney’s winning percentage this century. This should close any debate about us selling our future. With free agency, great development, good coaching and a large stable club that is seen as being a destination you don’t have to bottom out. Geelong and the Swans have proved this.

Our club is in great hands so I’m confident that we will be contending for many years to come. With people like Lambert in our development there will be more good young selfless footballers coming through our club.

I know he and his column aren’t popular here, but Parrot touched briefly on the Hopper deal in Sliding Doors yesterday. His opinion is that it will get done, because good clubs get these deals done.
