Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

I still think Soldo & F1 is a fair deal.
Hmmm. Dunno. Unless we paid considerable overs for Taranto and it’s adjusted for with Hopper, then not sure that makes sense.

If Taranto = 13 + 20, then not sure how 15 (conceivable 2023 estimate) + 30 (generously estimated Soldo value) gets you Hopper.

Unless of course you see us bombing next year ?

If we get left with junk picks which we take to the draft, how is there any realistic chance of them playing footy?

Turner and English all over again.

Funny how other deals getting done for naf all but news is that we have to pay through the nose - I agree. I wonder if pressure is coming from AFL as they have to sign off on all deals

I suspect/hope we have a mature backup ruckman in mind to bring in via the draft. To be honest and in my view Soldo is a better Ruckman then Nankervis and should have played more games in 2022.

Walk away Tigers. Grab him next year as a free agent and don’t give him a 7 year deal - think 3-4 should be long enough. Keep Soldo and keep our picks.

If GWizz continue to play silly buggers then I reckon the tigers change track - let’s play the high risk game and go for Bowes and pick 7 instead of Hopper.

If we smooth his wage over 3 or 4 years and we back in Hardwick and Lambert to turn his career around, we may end up with a half decent big bodied mid plus we gain a top 10 KPF from this years draft. Sounds like a win:win to me.

Then we let Hopper walk to us next year for nothing, could be a win, win, win and GWizz end up with a compensation pick, most likely end of first round and we let our first round pick from next year loose against the giants and watch him tear them apart.

You walk away now and I can almost guarantee he wont be coming next year. Its not that simple. One because it effectively ruins the faith with the player in question.

We’d need something back with that deal I’d think. Especially if they also want us to cover some of Soldo’s wage.
Both quite opposing views which is why I'm comfortable with the suggestion.
I guess it really depends on how high you rate Soldo but he is a Premiership ruckman last time I looked & the talls hold their value.
I see him as a seasoned tall who's plug & play as a tap ruck for a team looking for one. That has him as a pick in the 20s IMO. Higher if not for his knee injury.
We're losing a player who can play seniors. Ryan & Colina are unproven & Miller is makeshift. Ivan has value.

This is turning into a cluster *smile* of our own doing. We set the wrong expectation from the start

Yeah, can’t come at that value rating for Soldo. Way way overs for mine.

If we give up F1, pick 30, Soldo and Soldo’s wages, I’m sure most Richmond fans would be extremely disappointed. If Hopper loses faith/trust in RFC because his current club is asking for too much, then so be it. We will move on and hopper will also, albeit after next season.

Forget Taranto, forget it’s gws we are trading with and their plethora of picks, forget the injury history.

What did we pay last time we traded for a comparable player? There is you answer on what we’ll have to pay. A top ten pick. No one likes it but that’s it.

Also, when asked McCartney never mentioned they'd hold him to his contract. He'll never admit it but he knows they can't.
If the anti Richmond media were doing their job properly, they would ask McCartney whether they are prepared to hold Hopper to his contract. They would ask us that question if it was us who had a contracted player who wanted out.

the humanitarian thing to do when a player asks to leave and nominates a club would be to

assist them and the nominated club as generously and kindly as possible ... ;)
