Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Agree, but Soldo may be just as important next year too. Reluctantly give up a future 1st, because if Nank gets injured and with Ryan still developing, and if Soldo has gone we're snookered.
exactly. if nank has an injury rd 1 and soldo is gone, who is our No 1 ruck for say the next 10 weeks...? that could affect us winning a game or 3 right there.
need to keep soldo. unless we want to ruck miller against gawn and grundy, goldy, darcy, english etc....

Jason Mcartney “Hopper being under contract is an advantage for us (GWS)
pursuing draft picks and players is a combination that needs to be explored”
Draft picks and players seriously FOff
Who we trading for Patrick Cripps?
Just heard McCarthy been interviewed, sounded like soldo is definitely the player, when asked,no denial, just said u need time to get a contracted player ,meaning time to sell it to soldo ,I'm ok if it's soldo as no young player is OK by me.

Listening to Jason McCartney on trade radio now sounds like Soldo will be part of the Hopper deal. They’re gonna follow up with him in the next few days with a medical

Sounds good to me. Ivan will love the nightlife there.

We will pay through the nose for Hopper.

Hartley has f’d this up.

First Mistake he made was separating the trades which was stupid and then he set a precedent of pick 4 for the value of Taranto. Hopper is contacted and GWS will insist he is worth the same.

If we don’t win a Premiership in the next 2 years before Dusty, Prestia, Grimes and Lynch retire then we will have traded away our future effectively by sitting out 2 drafts in a row.

I would rather keep Soldo than get Hopper.

I don’t think our midfield woes are as significant as thought. And a big problem with our midfield late, was our ruckman.

Taranto has already remedied the midfield in a big way.

Dusty, Cotch, Prestia, Bolton, Taranto, Sonsie, Graham, Ross with Short, Baker as fill in options is bloody competitive against anyone in the league, and will still be so if Cotchy and Prestia only play half a season each.

A ruck division of Nankervis, Miller and Sampson is not. I’m not convinced will ever see Nank back to his 2017 form, and he was easily the worst player on the ground in our elimination final, after a poor year. He may be cooked. He may recover some form, but sole ruckman is a stretch. Miller was a great development, but questions remain on whether he could be number one. Sampson looks a prospect, but unproven and potentially a better option forward with an aging Riewoldt.

I’d be much happier going in with Soldo as first ruck next year, than slotting Hopper into the group above.

Indeed he will!!!

Also, I've got a spare bedroom. He can rent it from me at very reasonable rates while he spends 2 years trying to find a flat to move into that's clean, has good internet, is not a three-hour train ride from Homebush.

He'll need to supply his own bed though. The Queen-size we have in the spare room is 1. too short, 2. way too flimsy for his 100kg frame, and 3. often covered in cats.

Don't be surprised if Ivan goes, and gets more money at GWS, and we have to fund part of it, especially if it means we only give 2023 1st pick, and we get some draft currency back, for this year, and or next year .

This has the Hawthorn O’Mera & Mitchell mistakes written all over it.

Pay too much in draft capital and bites u on the ass

And if Soldo is our first ruck where does Nank play? We tried it this year and it simply did not work with playing at the same time.

Also what happens is 12 months times when Cotchin retires or Prestia again does his hammy? Taranto alone wont fix our midfield issues.

Call me soft, but I don’t like uprooting contracted players and sending them off to footy Siberia. Don’t like it at all.

Will be hard to see Ivan S go, but to get something you have to etc etc.
There's always a ruck rookie out there somewhere looking for another chance, look at Hickey.
