Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Well your 19, 30 and getting 39 back for Hopper is the equivalent of giving up a pick 8 on a points basis so you’d need to re think that then if you have him as a pick 15 value or whatever.

And if you have us finishing first next year, then 13, 20 and 18 on their own most definitely don’t get it done for Taranto and Hopper.

Might need to check your maths Red.

19 = 948
30 = 629
Points given up = 1577
39 - Points coming back = 446
Net value = 1131

Pick 14 is 1161
Pick 15 is 1112

Pick 7 is 1644
Pick 8 is 1551

I don't think you deducted the value of 39 coming back.

It’s a fire sale. GWS have to accept unders. Their opening gambit has given us a great understanding of what they might accept. Reading the tea leaves I’d say they’d settle for our first and second this year and next year’s first. But if I were them I’d be asking for Miller somewhere in there. Cheap with enormous upside. But I hope we wouldn’t do it.
You can see it going that way (ie 3 picks and a player) or some sort of equivalent value. Maybe something coming back - depends on the player involved.

Conversely Smoker, they’re late first round picks ….and for two quality players entering their prime. Suspect we’re still contending with Geebung for Hopper too and who knows what they might throw up.
Geelong have picks 18, 36, 46
Richmond have picks 12, 19,30

Picks wise we have them covered. And if future picks are thrown up we still have them covered as all punters would probably have Geelong finishing above us next year.

So lets take Taranto out of the equation for one moment. I am saying Picks 12 & 19 get the job done.

Hopper -

Geelong offer Pick 18 & 36 - points value 1487 (equivalent to pick 9)
Richmond offer Future First (say pick 12) plus pick 30 with a future fourth coming back to us - points value 1739. (equivalent to pick 8)

Geelong could throw up a Parfitt or Esava but GWS need salary cap relief.

I just cant see how they trump us on a trade front.

1st this year, 1st next year, pick 30 and Soldo. Done deal for TT and JH. Still leaves us 19 and ruck options still ok if don’t recruit another cheap one. Nank, Miller, Ryan, Balta and Biggie if gets nasty with injuries.

Yeah sorry I didn’t take the 446 off. That makes much more sense and equates to a value of 15 - if that’s what you think Hopper is worth.

Personally I think he’s closer to 10 or 11.

I reckon that’s a real possibility.

What’s the perceived Draft pick value of Soldo ?
I reckon it is too.

Value is hard, big aggressive premiership ruckman. Heard a lot of neutral commentary that he should be back to his best next season, big men taking longer to return from knee injuries.

The ruck market is kooky, 25-30?

Ruckmen are like beachhouses;

Often rooted and under-utilised,

But worth shitloads

For Soldo - early third round pick.

The key to much of this will be where GWS think we are gonna finish next year. I used 7th for evaluations sake but GWS might have us higher… who knows.

But you could see 13, 20 and F1 ‘23 plus Soldo and then a early third rounder coming back to us being ballpark if you thought Soldo was 30 value.

We offered a future 1st in the well publicised Treloar saga.

If both players nominate Richmond we will make it happen and if that means trading a future first, then it will happen.

When a player commits to your club, you don't let them down - we aren't Essendon.

I said traded one.
As I recall we wanted Adam and approached GWS but finally he was persuaded to nominate Collingwood as his preferred destination, and so no offer was made.
Who knows what GWS and the RFC may have said before that.

More recently GWS would have known that we were speaking to their contracted player, Hopper.
It looks like Hopper is willing to follow his mate.
Over the next week I expect that we will hear the media suggesting that Fridge and Flapper may be, ‘gettable’.
Probably have to pay Soldo’s salary if he does in fact become part of that deal and the fact that our two seniors were re - signed yesterday suggests that all of these deals are now well advanced.

The biast by Edmund who knows nothing about Richmond which throws out other trades is mind bogging ,when he thought scats would get Grundy, Hopper,he said great trading,will get both done,but when it turns to Richmond, how can this happen.
News u tool,tigers have much better picks and scats might have Pick 17 or 18.

I don’t think we’ll get the same level of media bias where our trading for Taranto and Hopper is concerned v that for Lynch. That was off the charts - especially that 360 loser Mr Magoo. “The AFL has to stop this sort of thing happening !” Whaa Whaa whaaa….

This time round we’ve finished 7th and have a bunch of retirements so they’ll maybe be less inclined. Then again their hatred and bias is real and broad I guess.

Where does Short fit in next year? We have Baker and Rioli down back and he’s uselsss in the midfield. We could have Cotch playing the Lablett role in 2023 also. I say he’s expendable.
Short can play wing and finds plenty of ball,as that's basically how he plays half back.

Makes sense. But you just don’t know where GWS have us finishing next year and what player/s they may have an interest in.

I could see Soldo being a key.
