Welcome Jacob Blight

YES, hard to fit him in the seniors atm. Why not try him in the forward line in the VFL for a few weeks. Nothing to lose.

Can he get a game with Balta, Miller and Broad in the side? Could be a long apprenticeship in the twos as a backman.
Miller to second ruck to help out Nank would be wortth a shot.

This lad is a specialust key nack.

Aren’t a lot of key backs ex forwards? And a lot of key forwards ex backs? It seems that way.
196cms! Mobile, good hands? Give him a shot I; the forward line. There’s nothing to lose.

Blight looks like he can take a grab. Might be a decoy for Lynch in the forward line. With what we’ve got he’s worth a shot there.

Dont forget he was also one of WAFL's best (if not the best) against SANFL last month taking 13 marks.

He's a 23 y.o that has played quality footy against the next level below (or above in state footy's case) very recently.

Why draft him if we aren't going to find out what he has and play him soon?

We ether need to drop Miller or shift Balta forward to accommodate him as can't play all 3 plus Broad and Vlastuin.

Seems an easy choice considering the season is shot and it should be utilised to expose players to see what we have.
Leysey gets it. Im sure Leysey would agree it is not hard to fathom out.

Our key backs as of next game should be Miller and Blight.
Miller to Curnow. Blight to McKay.

Move Balta forward so he can torch Young.

Exactly.

LOL at trying to move Blight to the forward line. He simply doesn't have the athleticism and pace to play forward.

To anyone proposing it - Zero chance it will work.

We drafted him as a key back. He is dominating the level below as a Key Back.

How's about we give him his chance as a...guess what......Key Back.

Miller is finally building confidence at the level. He needs to stay there.

Broken record, but Balta is the one we can move forward and have an impact whilst giving opportunity to find out what we have behind the ball.

So simple.

Wherever Yze wants players going forward , imho he should be using the rest of this season as pre season for 2025 , great opportunity to think outside the square and see if we can’t unearth a player with a new role

Yep, cant move Blight forward, cant move Miller forward.
I have doubts Balta will be anything better than an inconsistent ok forward, but if we want to give Blight a go, the best option is to move Balta forward for the rest of the year. If he is to turn into a truely good forward he needs the chance to develop there.

U might be right but Jack R and the Hawkins guy did alright without pace or athleticism. That pies forward goes all right and he is super slow.

Jack could leap small buildings and besides, was a genius. Hawkins was quick on the lead and a man mountain.

Blight has shown he's a natural defender, takes good grabs and uses it by foot very well. Love to see him in next week v Carlton. Don't care who he goes on, just want someone like him to compete in air against Curnow or McKay or play the role Stewart played at Geelong. Keep Balta back bc he's also a natural defender. We never put Rance up forward that I can recall, for the same reason. Three talls in defence - Miller, Balta and Blight is worth trying since Flossy, Broad, Rioli, Short and anyone else are often out-marked. He looks a class above VFL and that's a great indicator he deserves to debut.

Very much agree LD.
Dont think young Blighty shows forward traits. But looks good as a back.
Lets play him there.

I'd pitch him in the May role, doesnt need elite speed. Takes the central key spot
