Welcome Hugo Ralphsmith

I reckon our kids are a real mixed bag ATM.

I have high hopes for RCD, don’t rate Ross, think Dow has a spark.

The bloke I’m most excited about is Hugo Ralpsmith.

I just think he moves really well and has X-factor in spades.

With a bit more size and conditioning, who knows where he ends up?

Not saying he’s the next Bailey Smith, but that player should absolutely be the template.

Who’s with me?

Have to give these kids some benefit of the doubt at the moment given the interruption to the VFL seasons in 2020 and 2021

Will be better to judge them on 2022 output.

covid interuptions and top side chocka block full of premiership players

doesn't make for many "development" games for the young guys

but at least we know Dimma has recognised that and this full preseason will be crucial
for their development and our ability to assess them

played great and kicked goals in the seniors games he got, and did the same in the 2s matches i saw ..
Hugo should get more opportunities 2022
same with RCD, Dow and Cumberland..
Ross has skills but seems to just plod along a bit ..

Don’t sell Ross short. He is 2 things - a pure inside mid and a slow burn of a footballer. Back him in, he will be a very good player

It's interesting as his career started very brightly. Could it be that his syndesmosis injury is still holding him back? There's plenty of examples look at Butler who took 2 years to get back to his best albeit he also got a good kick in the arse and trade.

Last game showed us his worth. Finally played in position, stepped up with additional responsibility with our outs. If they play him mid all year next year he will have a break out year IMO

Sure looks to have bulked up. There's certainly a spot there for the taking. The coaches seem to have moved away from the defensive wing setup that we had in 2020 with Kmac and Pickett with the aim that we have a more attacking option on 1 wing. Kmac is the preferred option on 1 wing it appears but rotating players like Ross, George etc through there last year suggests they have been looking at options. Hugo is a perfect option, a good kick, good height at 186 and seems to be putting the weight and strength on.

I still have high hopes for the 2019 draft, Dow, Hugo, Cumberland I think can all add a lot. Martyn is a nice backup mid.

Of all the young mids on our list, I'm not convinced that Martyn will make the grade.

Not sure whether it's his nightmare debut game clouding my judgement, but just don't see it with him. Hope I'm wrong.

I agree on those 3 Posh. Still wondering why Cumbo was cut.

Kid can find plenty of it at VFL level, just not sure he's quick enough sometimes at figuring out what to do with it once he's got it. It'll career kill him at AFL level. Hopefully it's just a slight game adjustment he needs to make as he develops.

After 2017 Butler played like a bloke who was happy with himself and untouchable.

Found out that he wasn't.

His syndesmosis injury didn't help either.

Was surprised by his early re signing.

Needs to step up next year or he will probably be one of the first out the door as only got signed for the 1 year.
