Welcome Hugo Ralphsmith

He's shown some nice finishing skills but also looked a tad timid at the contest and was very reactive not proactive hopefully he improves on that this season with added size and experience.

He got shown up against the Bears in that *smile* show game against the Brisneys with that Bearometer F wit jumper tugging.

Same game where RCD showed some signs.

Has some class but is an outside player that lacks pace and loses too many contests. Not as outside as Naish but not as good a kick either. Will be surprised if he makes it

Really !!! Lacks pace you say !!

"Ralphsmith highlighted why, he is a player of interest with good results (top-10 finishes in the sprint, time trial and vertical jump).
STRENGTHS:

X-Factor
Vertical leap
Speed
Work rate
Clean hands

"He [polarises] people and they're unsure about him, but I look at his athleticism, his speed and his ability to go to full forward and take marks on the lead," Lloyd said recently.
"He runs like Isaac Smith and he'll run for you all day long…he's a guy who could be anything at AFL level."
Clubs know the 17-year-old wingman/forward can do some special things.

"and performs really well – achieving top-10 performances in the 20m sprint, vertical jump and the 2km time trial. We hope this helps his chances."

His performance this preseason has been one of the highlights. Two way runner and very good user of the footy. Wining contested ball as well which has been a knock. 20 touches today. Would be stiff not to play Round 1.

Should be locked and loaded for round 1.

Loved his game…with Lambert out he is exactly the player we needed to step up…he looks way stronger over the ball and actually defended in the air…last year he got pushed off the ball easily, he actually got a few contested possessions today

Thought same thing re his contested efforts especially in the air. He seems a great kid who is working hard to make it happen.
I loved his run to the far side flank to get on the end of a passage of play. That was serious but running.

Kid has game and knows when to go and what to do, I wanted him with the cumberland pick and was upset we didnt draft him then we called out his name i just couldnt believe he was still available.

Only just turned 20 years of age and i can really see comparisons to a young Cam Guthrie in his game

Had to do me some cogitating this morn, extremely difficult process for this old fart.
Could be just that flowing mullet when he's on the run, but young Raaaalphy's been reminding me of someone from yesteryear for a while now n I just couldn't place who. Penny sorta dropped this morn n while I couldn't remember the name I was pretty sure it was a bomber or crowbot. Seems it was both with a dollop of Pordadalayde SANFL thrown in as well. Mr Google found him for me, Greg Anderson.

What’s his best position, wing for mine?
Play him on the wing. Two way running is his go.

Also is a nice long kick. So will be dangerous forward of centre if they give him some space.

HBF is his go for now. Wing and the Lambert role are much tougher and he isn't ready/prepared for either. He's doing well with the ball coming to him where he can play straight-ahead football and join in via the overlap. He should get a shot if Tigga's out.

Has he showed improvement in his physical attack on the footy and on the contests this preseason Spooker?

That was a deficiency last year.

I were pumping Hugo up before the pre-season started but had been disappointed in his disposal and reported more than once in my training reports that he was missing targets into the forward line under no pressure.
Agree he has looked pretty good in the practice games.

**To back up my point re his disposal, Dimma in the latest episode of Talking Tigers said "actually his disposal has been off this year"
