Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

That’s only because she digs herself into a bigger hole when she tries to explain anything. That’s why she’s out of her depth, the hole gets deeper.

Clearly wasn’t ready for the role. What kind of media training had she done? She seems to be completely winging it and not having thought it through. My assumption is that this is because she doesn’t have the kahunas to challenge her own department when they say everything is ok and then under any kind of external scrutiny it falls apart.

THE STANDARD of umpiring is as good as ever despite public criticism, AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon says.

Dillon has staunchly defended new umpires boss Steve McBurney and his cohort amid criticism of decisions influencing the outcome of several games this season.

Yeah Right What a Joke this Mob is

Does he know where McBurney is? The guy seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.

Dunno if anyone saw 360 last night. It was interesting. Robbo is pushing hard for what he is calling a 'Summit', "like a royal Commission". Saying most or all footy fans are disillusioned and pissed off with the umpiring.

B Scott was on. He ridiculed the summit idea, as a good company man would, but then proceeded to backhand the AFL. They had sent him explanations for the "series of unfortunate events" in the third Q last round. Was trying to put a positive spin on it, saying it was great getting an explanation. But then when pressed on each decision, said the AFL either admitted it was a wrong call, or provided a confusing/ unacceptable explanation of why it was a right call. Quite funny.

I can see why he wouldn't want a summit though, his mitts haven't been off it for very long.

Maybe he’s under one of those witness protection programs
Mowing Setka’s lawn everyday.
Dillon sent him there to do penance at John “the good”s mansion.
That’s why Dame Laura Grey is was doing the umpires fairy stories until they realised she was useless.
Now Dillon’s getting in on the act. No doubt his credibility has nosedived as well.

The new umpires fairy story teller will be
Happy Peter Pan GIF by FINDING NEVERLAND The Musical

Dud Umpires Advisor - Razor Raphael Connor O’feckness Blarney Fungule will be taking over media duties. When and if he feels like it. Usually 3 am Friday mornings.

Yeah, what a joke.

He said they didn't want the conversation to be about umpiring every Monday after each round.

Hey Dill, did you ever stop to ponder why the umpiring is a big topic of conversation? Because their performance is an inconsistent mess.

Needs to be fixed. The standard of adjudication is simply not up to standard for a professional sport.

What Dillion didn't say is that the rule changes have made umpiring near impossible.
It may be true that umpiring has never been better but the way the rules of the game are structured & implemented by AFL House is at an all time low.

The game is in trouble IMHO.

My question is why would anyone watch a show with Whately, Robinson and a Scott?

Geez these Scott boys get preferential treatment.

Essendon coach Brad Scott has revealed that the AFL contacted him on Monday to admit to several mistakes made in the controversial clash against Geelong in Round 16.

The game does need some form of intervention or summit at season's end.
Don't want any of this current mob involved in it though.
Calamitous.
100%. but can't see it happening. The fact someone who has a voice is calling for it is at least something. If there is some support for it and it gets to point where the league has to respond, they'll just have a roundtable meeting behind closed doors and tweak a couple of rules or interpretations, then tell us how fantastic they are and how they listened to the fans etc.

Umpires will always make mistakes but this is the main reason.
That and 4 umpires which imo leads to massive over umpiring.
