Watson takes ducking for frees to new levels. Whenever he is near the ball in a contest he is preparing and thinking about getting possession then ducking, or doing those simultaneously. Ginnivan is similar, but isn't as short and doesn't do it quite as much. Selwood invented it and did it a lot, but nothing on these guys. I don't see what the solution is, everyone knows its wrong but nobody knows that to do about it, and it is so deeply ingrained in their game that I can't see it changing.
I find it very hard to watch.
in the old days, the crowd yelled
'he *smile* ducked'
and the ump went 'no, you ducked'
whether it was a rule or not I dont know but
1. the players didn't play for it, because
2. it wouldn't be paid.
adjudicate like that again, and its career over for Ginnivan, and a major reprogram for Watson.
the thing that infuriates me more about Watson is he doesn't need to do it. he has talent enough to be a star playing in the spirit of the game
