Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

View attachment 23164
Please explain this interpretation.

I interpret that as

'The umpire didnt follow the rules which means the collingwood players can do as the please contrary to the rules, so no 50. i understand the frustration, but paying footy fans need to Understand that they are never ever right, and in the infrequent times they are, they arent'

Why is Kane fronting the media and ‘explaining’ this anyway? Shouldn’t that be the ex umpire McBurney?

She's done it for most of the year. I guess they figure she's a softer figure to do it but to AFL fans it comes across badly. It shou.d be McBurney.

"So Collingwood players (were) anticipating that they were going to hear a call post-whistle. A really common discussion around players is play the whistle and when you hear it, wait for what's next. What's next didn't come quick enough so the confusion for those Collingwood players was what to do, as was probably the level of confusion that sat with Bailey"

Translation: players should play the whistle; collingwood players didnt play the whistle. Players conceeding 50m penaltys is most often due to confusion; here everyone was confused

Jeez Kane really does take us for fools

GAGF.

This camels back is within a quarter straw of relinquishing RFC memberships, citing no confidence in the integrity of the game.

I dont think i can take it anymore and the only tiny bit of control i can exert is through Richmond

Same.

Add the goal review that didn't happen in that game, when the evidence appeared conclusive to almost everyone who saw it, that Bailey had touched the Pies kick. Apparently the ARC attendant deemed the evidence "not conclusive" enough to overturn the goal umpire decision, hence nothing. Except a whole bunch of confused fans, players who on a big screen with a pretty pixelated image were pretty sure it was touched, as were commentators etc.

You could not make this *smile* up!!!! The old not enough evidence to overturn hey? IIRC the Tigers may have been on the wrong end of one of those, and we are still to see the conclusive footage?

What organisation can continue to get away with this lack of transparency? Secret mics to umps, secret offsite drug testing....they are so insular they have no idea how disenchanted fans are with them.

As you suggest GAGF you corrupt, immoral, inbred, myopic, sycophantic bunch of *smile*.

Exactly. Graham didn't think it went the required distance but the umpire had blown the whistle for a mark and had not called play on. A 50 you could not argue about. Now all of a sudden the players are umpiring the game.

So if a players feigns ignorance the umpire will not be able to penalise him?

Unfortunately that never works for Shai. But he don't play for the Pies.
Ahh. Must be one of those grey areas in the rules that Kane loves so much. If only it was written in the rule book in black and white so it would be easy for everyone to follow

They just can't get the ARC right. It was meant to eradicate the shockers, but it throws up its own shockers.

I swear there were a couple of very late, reversed through the earpiece calls in our game, maybe it was just incompetence.

I saw a clip on X (which I can’t find again) where a Hawthorn player standing the mark was just moving side to side by a metre and jumping around. No 50 to us.

The guy on X headed it “I don’t think that’s how the stand rule is meant to work”. It was quite astounding (but not surprising)

Laura of course.
Maggots should have called play on, but didn't because as we all know, they're *smile* incompetent, then they simply confirmed and enhanced their proof of incompetence by failing to adjudicate the next ruling which was a fifty metre penalty for blatantly encroaching over the mark. The maggots then simply chose to go for the AFL / Laura beige miasma of common sense applies safety net because we *smile* up. Then adjudicated nothing to see here, we'll simply go back to pay the mark n restart from there.
Bulldust. My point was nobody called play-on. You said you would have called play-on "as well", as well as who? nobody called play on. This is the bloody point man! The whistle blew for the mark, 2 collingwood players heard it, saw the mark taken, and charge 10 metres over the mark, that is a textbook, lay down misere 50m penalty. The players are not allowed to pre-empt the play on call, which is what the 2 collingwood players did, that is the whole point and that is why these 50s get paid!

The mistake was not that the ump didn't call play on. Whether it was play on or not in this case is up for debate, but even if it was, its irrelevant. It happens all the time that a player moves to play on, ump doesn't get time or is too slow to call play on, player on the mark moves to impede, 50m penalty. happens all the time with far far far less extreme movements, and in most cases its one player and not 2.

I will never understand why a free kick is awarded after a player raises their arm causing the tackler’s arm to slip upward and into a high tackle.

How is that tackling incorrectly when the end result is manufactured by the player being tackled?

And it’s now becoming an art with players dropping their knees and looking for it.

None of these should be awarded, and it should have been stamped out years ago.
This will be Joel Duckwood's legacy, a whole generation of ducking, shrugging campaigners dropping their knees for free kicks.

What happens to the AwFuL's focus of faking, ducking and diving from a season or two ago ?? Players should be encouraged to keep their feet !

This has been allowed to creep its way back into the game on their watch. As I have said MANY times now, start suspending the recidivist offenders and the problem will disappear overnight.

As you say that rushed behind was ridiculous, how about the deliberate against Sonsie on the Southern stand wing? Or the countless headhigh frees in their forward line when their legs dropped and arms pushed up.

Absolutely putrid game from the umps.
The rushed behind was a truly dreadful decision as was Sonsie's deliberate

We haven't had a good milker of the head high tackle since Jakey King, although Miles was ok at it. If it gets paid then we should do it imo.

She’s been the one ‘explaining’ all season. She was on the front bar a few weeks ago and Mick Malloy’s first question was why do you hate Richmond so much? Then can you explain the free kick anomaly. No reasonable answer given. Then when questioned about which team was the biggest money pit, giants or suns, she says that we love all teams equally, mick says except Richmond, she replies ‘(okay) 17 (teams)’ in jest, but was it really in jest?

A Richmond man doesn't milk head high tackles. Leave that to the ilk of Selwood, Ginnivan, Watson etc.

Watson takes ducking for frees to new levels. Whenever he is near the ball in a contest he is preparing and thinking about getting possession then ducking, or doing those simultaneously. Ginnivan is similar, but isn't as short and doesn't do it quite as much. Selwood invented it and did it a lot, but nothing on these guys. I don't see what the solution is, everyone knows its wrong but nobody knows that to do about it, and it is so deeply ingrained in their game that I can't see it changing.

I find it very hard to watch.

And to the surprise of absolutely no-one, the AFL has ticked off the no 50 metre call from the Norf-Pies game. The error according to Kane is actually because the ump didn't call play on after Scott took a few steps.

She's also ticked off the ARC call earlier in the game, even though the footage looks like Scotts fingers touched the ball.

Good old Giggles at her gaslighting best.

Between this and her reported decision to make changes to the father-son and academy bids this year she has got off to an incredibly mediocre start, even for an AFL executive.

I didn't think the bar for stupidity could be set lower from the previous people in her position, but here we are.
AFL desperately want Pies playing finals
Look at all the decisions going Pies way there was no way North would be allowed to win
