Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

I haven’t read this thread over recent days but has anyone mentioned the “insufficient intent” call against Sonsie in the last quarter?
We had a few hawks fans around us and even they were laughing about it.
Yeah it was comical. Very similar one against Hawthorn very soon after not paid.

And to the surprise of absolutely no-one, the AFL has ticked off the no 50 metre call from the Norf-Pies game. The error according to her is actually because the ump didn't call play on after Scott took a few steps.
Who are they trying to kid? Unbelievable. I mean its the AFL so I believe it, but you know what I mean. This was extremely bad. Untickoffable

Do the umpires actually watch us play? We struggle to hit our teammates with passes but then the umpires think we become deadeye dicks when near the boundary

Just saw giggling Laura on 7 news and the incident, 100% it was 50m, just mindboggling that the're trying to defend it and rolling her out with no football experience just makes it worse.

They then defend 50 against Windhager when the saints were coming back.

She's also ticked off the ARC call earlier in the game, even though the footage looks like Scotts fingers touched the ball.

Good old Giggles at her gaslighting best.

Between this and her reported decision to make changes to the father-son and academy bids this year she has got off to an incredibly mediocre start, even for an AFL executive.

I didn't think the bar for stupidity could be set lower from the previous people in her position, but here we are.

This is impressive double speak. It's almost triple speak.

The root cause is the stupid stand rule, which the umps are now trying to adjudicate like the previous rule but caught up in that there is a stand rule. If a spade got called a spade that this stupid rule creates a need for an umpire to call "stand" to 'turn the rule on' and "play on" to 'turn the rule off' or "outside 5" to say the rule doesn't apply and in doing this don't have time to concentrate on the actual game then we'd be being honest. What we are dealing with here is that the umpire forgot to say any of that so we are in the happy grey zone where everything is 100% ok no matter what happens.

I had to sit through 8 minutes of absolute drivel and disingenuous explanations by the so called AFL GM of football. And what did I take away from this video?

1/- The AFL has complete and utter contempt for ALL football supporters

2/- The AFL is not only run incompetently, it is profoundly morally bankrupt.

3/- Describing the unpaid 50 meter penalty late in the Pies, Roos game as confusing by her own stupid description has condemned the four field umpires as confused. They should not be umpiring again. She just does not see how inane and dishonest her explanations are.

4/- In furthering her woeful attempts to whitewash the complete failure of the umpires she said the north player moved after taking the mark which confused the umpires and even the Pies players! Yes he did move a couple of steps backwards after marking the ball as most players do in that situation - ready to look for options down field and then take their kick. He couldn’t because he was jumped upon by two Collingwood players while the umpires, according to this useless dribble from another AFL employee, stood there confused!

That is a 50 meter penalty with what should have been a shot at goal.

5/- The goal earlier in that game was reviewed according to her - but we only have her word for that. Nobody else out the ground including the commentators were aware it had been reviewed. There were only two options she said - either touched (it was) or all clear for a goal.

The goal was given to Collingwood and the AFL of today, again proves just how corrupt it is in managing our once great game.

6/- The remainder of her dribble was an attempt to tell the public just how seriously the AFL take their responsibilities in reviewing umpiring decisions blah, blah, blah, blah.

She conveniently ignored the blatant ball throwing by two Magpies within seconds of each late in the last quarter as I’m guessing the 4 umpires again stood by in a comatosed state of confusion.

This woman has no credibility and the AFL should be called out for its outrageous incompetency and cheating 😡

The rule is very simple (not right but simple). It the umpire did not call play on then it was 50 metres.
If the umpire called play on then it’s not 50, if he didn’t then it is.
Simples.
Two mistakes doesn’t make the correct decision.

If ever there was an organisation that would and could invent triple speak, the AFL is it.

I hope they're paying Laura adequately.

She has sold her soul to become a puppet mouthpiece, lying for a corrupt and manipulate sports entertainment company.

She will leave this role with zero respect, a joke.

I now understand why she got the gig despite having barely any credentials or experience.

There’s a part of me that finds the AFL having to damage the way the game is played and adjudicated in order to stop the Tigers humerous.

Well done Hocking and co. Bravo.

Alarm bells were ringing with Kane's 'grey areas' quote.

Grey areas decide football matches. Grey areas end coaching careers. Grey areas end playing careers.

She needs to be replaced before any more damage is done.

How can only one player be fined in a 6-player+++ melee?
no case to answer on the Brown sling tackle. Pretty sure his head hit the turf...
As you said, how can one player only be involved in a melee - just beggars belief.
And I thought if the head hit the ground it was an automatic report, much less a fine, but once again I am wrong. AFL are just a joke and Laura Kane’s explanation in The Colonwood North game was pure fiction.

First time I have thought Bartel had some brains

What has Laura said about this rubbish?

That throw from Quaynor is a joke
And the deliberate rushed behind…. Not payed. Broad wants answers.
