Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

Consistency or Transparency Round would be a big hit.
Haha! That is like wanting for honesty from the "no" campaign.

Let's stick to hoping for things that actually have a some chance of happening, like banks putting people before profits.

In asking Richardson for an explanation for all the aerial frees that were paid to Geelong on Saturday night, it was revealed that one of the 4 umpires paid a total of 15 frees out of the 31 to Geelong on the night.
So?
Joel Selwood used to do that every week.

Umpire Hosking who wears #16 gave 15 frees to the Pussies
AFL should consider sacking him never to umpire again

This stuff needs to be internally available to AFL clubs and AFL umpiring department.

(not the general public or media)

And there needs to be transparency and accountability about kicks paid and NOT paid by particular umpires vs particular clubs to these groups.

With gambling billions looming over the industry the threat of corruption is obvious and massive. There need to be massive negative penalties to individual umpires and umpiring leadership for gambling corruption. This penalty needs to be made public (e.g. lifetime ban from umpiring, financial penalties, demotions of leadership for insufficient investigation / training etc.) and also it needs to be really obvious that results are being monitored statistically to spot any outliers with decisions made consistently for or against teams and or at certain times in games. Being watched changes people's behavior massively.

I doubt (but not 100% convinced) that umpires do this for love or hate of clubs. I would not be surprised if gambling money is involved given how in bed with the gambling industry the AFL is.

Wish someone would throw him up…and out of the game.
Heard him calling players by nicknames in the broadcsat on Sunday. Seriously, can this twerp be any more self-indulgent?

They should be umpiring in masks and without numbers or identifying features. They should be anonymous.

Bounce should be removed. It is ridiculous that umpires get a reset.

If stand is to stay, the player with the ball must be brought around directly in line with the player on the mark before being allowed to move to play on.

Major bugbear of mine.

Adjudication of it in game and from game to game, round to round has been so poor this year.

Just get rid of this stupid rule .

Or umpire it correctly, not when it suits or the team playing.

Someone needs to question the Close - Cameron handball boundary line thing! Can't wait for the blabbering response from the AwFulL!

With so many in the sports meedjia beholden to Gilligan and AFLHQ nothing will happen. The two extremely contentious umpiring decisions that resulted in goals to Jizza barely rated a fluffy mention in the Hun's half dozen game day articles.
That other Richo bloke in charge of umpiring will probably stick his head out the office door for about 30 seconds on Monday and claim that the umpires have a difficult job and perhaps could have made better decisions regarding both incidents, so we'll do some training around those type of actions, but in the meantime " play on ".

The will change the rule for this and make it retroactive.
