We are toast!Friday night game, first game for the round.
Richmond players! Assume the position, this won’t hurt a bit!
THE AFL has warned clubs that it will crack down on players infringing on the standing the mark rule across the final month of the season, issuing a memo to teams on Wednesday regarding the strict enforcement of the existing rule.
The League wrote to clubs following an increase of instances where players had infringed on the mark when told to 'stand' by umpires, particularly when the defending team marked deep inside the 50m arc.
A series of examples was sent to clubs where umpires had been forced to remind players that they needed to go "back to the nine" when a mark was paid to a defending player standing inside the goalsquare.
The rule set to be stringently enforced, which is titled 'Disposal By A Defending Player Deep D50 – Within Nine Metres', states: "Where a defending player is awarded a mark or free kick, the mark will be set at the 9m mark.

So the one on Sunday was let go because it's the rule of this week, not last week.Friday night game, first game for the round.

Hang on, the AFL have previously inferred that 100% of umpires get 100% of their decisions 100% correct 100% of the time. So why the need for a “crack down” when they should be just carrying on in their 100% correct ways?Friday night game, first game for the round.

This must be the only sport in the world with such a dictatorial call by an umpire/referee.Hang on, the AFL have previously inferred that 100% of umpires get 100% of their decisions 100% correct 100% of the time. What a joke this administration is.
Just get rid of all these BS rules so the umpires don’t have to focus on one at a time.
BTW, which rule this week will they go slack on because they’re concentrating on yelling “STAND!” at people?
The Stand rule is unfair, the crackdown should be on the player with the ball. The AFL and umpires are letting the player in possession of the ball cheat.Friday night game, first game for the round.

its a blight on the game, everyone hates it, please get rid of....This must be the only sport in the world with such a dictatorial call by an umpire/referee.
HTB was paid arbitrarily today. They put the whistle away in the first half when we had 3 - 4 reasonable claims but changed their minds in the 2nd half. Dunno how they missed that high against Pickett on Broad in our defensive goal square but they certainly were willing to pay HTB then.
The commentators said that Broad raised his arm slightly to ward off the tackle, and that’s deemed prior opportunity, however they also agreed that the tackle was high and should have been paid to Broad as high contact, but apparently not one of the FOUR umpires could see that.
what about the missed free kick in the last quarter, when melbourne's pickett fell the Richmond player after the kick.
Lot of our blokes behave like petulant 5 year olds at times. Don't want the maggots to tear you a new one on game day, then learn to play the game by the instructions in the maggots rule book. It's fairly *smile* simple. This rule is relevant for 5 year olds to learn their manners.
If that's the way you would like to interperate the ruling of said enforcement of rule. So, they are going to enforce the much lauded stand rule this week because for the last few weeks, they have, um, how can we put this . . . not enforced the rule.
They are now warning all the clubs that the practice of ignoring their own rule is now apparently going to stop and they will now enforce their own rule. They have to warn the clubs about nothing in the rules changing because, um, I don't know, because they have been incompetent for the last month or two?
What a farce.

Poor old maggots got so many different rules and interpretations to manage that they simply can't remember them all without carrying a tablet all game. Obviously when they start to forget an entire rule for a game or three, then HQ has to do a bit of reinforcement mentoring to remind them of the important rules they've been missing. Which will obviously require the maggots to over focus on the rules they've just been mentored about to the detriment of some of the other rules they're also supposed to try n remember on a weekly basis. So in a couple of weeks time there'll be another focus group around the next batch of forgotten rules, resulting in another round of ever decreasing circles of incompetence until hopefully someone ( razor perhaps ) disappears up his own *smile* and brings raptures of mirth and joy to the Richmond faithful. So, they are going to enforce the much lauded stand rule this week because for the last few weeks, they have, um, how can we put this . . . not enforced the rule.
