Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

If you watch the actual presser he is angry with the players for their indisciplined actions, not so much the umps.

True, but it was funny how he raised the Tuck incident in that little blast. I don't really think he was angry at Shane for that.

Yeah probably covered it up with his 2nd comment about following an umpire's orders, but we all know what he REALLY meant....

The North backman were literally just scragging and holding onto our forwards. I'm not a believer in blaming umpires for losses. But I am a believer in acknowledging when the umpires were nothing short of disgraceful. The rules and the interpretations are destroying this great game.
I saw tht.
They were just holding them back by the jumper and the umpire did NOTHING then it went up the other end and they got a free for something less.

The game is as corrupt as the Eurovision Song contest.

Well Dimma has been angry at the umps for WAY WAY LESS THAN todays corrupt effort.

Yet again we should complain to Gieschen and his clowns. Can we find out: -
- why Riewoldt gets nothing for being continually held;
- how was a free kicked paid against Tuck when the umpires bounce caused the situation (read the rule book);
- how was Cotchin penalized for deliberate out of bounds, when he was trying to kick down the ground;
- why was that squib, actor Thomas paid a free kick for falling forward in a marking contest with no push at all in q1;
- why was Delidio not paid a free kick for high contact when he was clearly grabbed around he head that then led to him blowing his cool;
- even the Petrie free in the last quarter is soft when looked at in slow motion.;
- do we not pay incorrect disposal anymore;

The umpires today were a joke. Overpaid, unprofessional disgrace. Can we also check McBurney's bias. Either incompetent or a cheat.

The Cotchin one had me speechless, utter stupidity by that umpire showing his lack footballing knowledge.

yeah and fair enough too.....umpiring standards are shocking at the moment. When the end margin is 4 points it really hurts. If we were good enough we would have won anyway but still....

agree with that, but I did leave the ground today thinking that I now have little idea what constitutes a free in marking and in general play.

Every contest seemed like a lottery, many many decisions and non-decisions just dumfounding...

Its amazing how in soccer refs are always investigated and hunted down for bad decisions. But these blokes that run the show in our game just brush it off and think "yeah one decision doesnt cost a game." Well guess what you mongrels we lost by 4 points and one of those dumb freekicks paid did cost us a game. Idiocy.

The other issue from today is how frequently the field umpires were in the way. Just ridiculous.

OMG with like a minute to go the umpire was in the middle of maric in a general play. bloody hopeless. only happens to richmond

I was sitting with a few Tigers and one North supporter today and the conclusion we came to - aside from abject frustration - is that unlike many other codes, AFL adjudicators seem to lack that innate, natural instinct for the game.

I was shaking my head at decisions going both ways today, utter bewildered by interpretations of a sport I reckon I've built up a pretty good knowledge of, after watching it for 30 years.

Rarely do I point the finger at umpires when the Tigers lose and I'm not going to trot out that line tonight, but my point remains: the endless rule-changing, the shifting interpretations, the inconsistency in decision-making and the flat out howlers make our sport as equally frustrating as it can be thrilling.

How about the journo asking Morris to answer a question about the melee.

What did he ask?

North players were third and fourth in, they should pay the fines.

It's hard to hear the actual words but I heard the journo say "after the 1st quarter...." and then Dimma interrupted by advising Morris not to answer the question.
