There were 3 goals at the Ponsford end that were given as behinds. One to Jack, one to White and the Melbourne one they reviewed. If we miss the eight by a minuscule amount percentage (not that we deserve to be there at the moment), these missed goals could prove costly.
As for the crap umpiring, it was both ways. How was Jack supposed to have been given the so called "prior opportunity" when he thought he took a mark and the Melbourne defenders pile on top of him. He was waiting for the umpire to pay the mark and so has no intention of disposing of the ball, then gets pinged for holding the ball. What a joke - it should have been a ball up.
The umpires need to return to the basics of umpiring a pay decisions according to the rules, not interpretations of the rules, as this can vary between umpires. If the rule says you must correctly dispose of the ball when tackled then that should be how it's umpired and not rely on this "grey area" of prior opportunity.
They also need to use their whistle more quickly to stop these ugly scrums developing, which result in scrappy, untidy play.
