Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

3 field umpires and none could see Riewoldt marked the ball cleanly or got pushed in the back.
Martin gos for a soft sling tackle. Ball gos up the other end Walker slings Morris head first into the ground - holding the ball.
Doesn't help us if Walker gets a week
Crows staging is terrible

Walker to go for at least 3 for that tackle.
We had the rub of the green todat though. Bad football cost us dearly.

Walker is fair dinkum the biggest meathead playing the game.

probably only means a percentage thing but surely that last goal to Walker should have been a 50 to Maric? Maric marks goes back and goes to kick (wasnt play on?) and Walker ran three or so steps forward to smother. Is that not 50m?

I thought we were stiff in a couple of marking decisions , particularly Riewoldt but I thought the umps were great today.

And it wasn't the frees for and against but the fact that there were no ruck frees, no square infringement frees and no holding the ball when blokes were trying to get the loose ball on the bottom of the pack. No fifty fifty frees paid all day.

Top notch display of how to umpire a game. I can handle a few errors if the umps let the players play and are consistent

You can't tell me the crowd didn't affect those maggots today, by the last quater they were afraid to pay us anything. The crowd over there are so one-eyed and uneducated, I wonder if some of them can see at all the way they carry on. Nearly every time there is a contest or a tackle they are yelling for a free kick.

If Walker doesn't get weeks for that tackle on Morris it will be a miracle, how can the ump reward that tackle with a free kick that is a shot of goal when it is clearly a reportable offense. But of course there will be no consequence for the ump, there never is. Then there is Jack's mark not paid, they are clearly just guessing. Head shaking stuff.

They didn't cost us the game, we managed to stuff it up ourselves, but gee they certainly didn't help us.

Listening to Russel commentate was almost as bad, hardly had a positive thing to say about us and seemed to take delight in mentioning how much of a lead we had thrown away. I thought he was going to starting yelling "Go the Crows" when they kicked a goal.

Thought generally we were quite lucky today.

But surely there's no-way Walker can get off for that

Will be pretty embarrassing for the umpiring department when a player who was rewarded a free kick, also gets two-three weeks for the same act.

Totally agree. It's not hard if they try.

I thought the umpires were better than we were today. Sure there's a couple of tough decisions that went against us, but they didn't cost us the win. We were slack after quarter time and never looked like wining after half time. We need to toughen up if we want to play finals footy and not just play one great quarter and expect our opposition to just roll over.

at least the umpires ignored the diving and staging from them which was comical at times especially Walker.

The one not paid to Jack was a howler and the spear tackle was hilarious - so in the end a decent effort was finally crowd influenced in the home teams favour. Our problem is Hardwick, Houli and Miller

AFL is the worst officiated professional sport in the world.

Spot on, I say it every week. Farcical.
Totally over-umpired which leads to the howlers that are missed or the technical ones paid because the ump could justify it in a court of law, having every one confused.
AFL crowds & media don't help culture of the sport by constantly yelling for free kicks. Free kicks are a negative not a positive.
Biggest blight on the game in my opinion isn't stoppages, or floods it is the amount of free kicks paid, far too many, pay the blatantly obvious & that's all. Free kicks should be about 10 per team a game.
AFL umpires shouldn't have numbers, should not be mentioned in the record & shouldn't have milestones mentioned. By giving them any recognition it promote egotistical behaviour. They shouldn't be allowed to call players by nicknames, comment on play (ie 'cut it out' in relation to pushing, 'knock the ball out' in a scrimmage, or say 'good tackle').
They even made an amendment to a rule without having it officially announced. How does one player, Franklin, have an allowance to run around on an arc but other players are called to play on allowing opponents to run & attack them. How this has been allowed to continue is almost unbelieveable. A rule for one player???? What other professional sport does this??? This is why example of how the AFL is worst officiated professional sport on the planet.

cant complain about much today tho i do agree with

Hard done by in the last 20 minutes but pretty well serviced for the majority of the game.

but it is a problem when umpires dont know rules. Rance should have got a 50 when he was tackled by Walker after handballing today.
the free and 50 has been paid twice this year that I have seen. Within about 20mins against us v Power. be interesting to hear if the umpire got it wrong.

Morris was a bad one.

Happy to get the choccy's from the umps today, its a pleasant surprise and goes to show, they probably don't turn games as much as we think they do , me being a massive victim of that old way of thinking :hihi

Thought we did pretty well from the umps today.

Unfortunately our good run early hurt us in the final quarter. The free count was so lopsided, they stop paying ours when we really needed them.

But of course, umpires pay what they see ::)

Pretty well, where was jacks mark or free kick, edwards had a fairsq push to the back in a marking contest...morris, well...and the officiating ump missed the rance hit, the mrp wont...*smile* woeful umpiring
