AFL is the worst officiated professional sport in the world.
Spot on, I say it every week. Farcical.
Totally over-umpired which leads to the howlers that are missed or the technical ones paid because the ump could justify it in a court of law, having every one confused.
AFL crowds & media don't help culture of the sport by constantly yelling for free kicks. Free kicks are a negative not a positive.
Biggest blight on the game in my opinion isn't stoppages, or floods it is the amount of free kicks paid, far too many, pay the blatantly obvious & that's all. Free kicks should be about 10 per team a game.
AFL umpires shouldn't have numbers, should not be mentioned in the record & shouldn't have milestones mentioned. By giving them any recognition it promote egotistical behaviour. They shouldn't be allowed to call players by nicknames, comment on play (ie 'cut it out' in relation to pushing, 'knock the ball out' in a scrimmage, or say 'good tackle').
They even made an amendment to a rule without having it officially announced. How does one player, Franklin, have an allowance to run around on an arc but other players are called to play on allowing opponents to run & attack them. How this has been allowed to continue is almost unbelieveable. A rule for one player???? What other professional sport does this??? This is why example of how the AFL is worst officiated professional sport on the planet.
