Sometimes I think the AFL are corrupt, sometimes I think they are simply incompetent. However they always prove me wrong - they are both.

This is extremely basic stuff that any half competent outfit just builds into contracts and regulations. The most obvious analogy is when legislation uses the term "units" rather than dollars, and has an associated easy to adjust regulation that has the dollar value of a unit. This is just very basic nuts-and-bolts corporate, contract law. Not for the AFL though apparently.This explains where the AFL went wrong as well as any.
Essentially they haven't taken the rise in salary cap as much as they should.
