If you listen to commentators (who normally have no idea) all they seem to mention is how he went to Geelong and become a very good player. IMO he played his best footy at Richmond but he got the flag at Geelong.
Spot on.

In 2001 he was close to the best big man in the comp. Great contested mark, great kick and great mobility. I remember him in a couple of games doing a "Kouta" and grabbing the ball in one hand and bursting away from packs. The football world was his oyster. It all went pear shaped after that.

Never shouldve cut Rodan, liked Collins but who knows what he'll mount to, others.....not missing them.

Rodan is a very hot andf cold player. In 2009 he managed to average 19 possessions a game. Has not amassed more than 16.7 in any other season. I just don't see what Rodan would have offered to us that would have made much difference. Also coming off knee recos, thought we played the percentages right on that one.

I am pretty sure we can't, but can someone confirm that if we do confirm that TT is off the list this year either by him quitting or us sacking him, can we elevate a rookie?

Pat Contin would be my No 1 choice followed by Westhoff...I know NW is still a way off but I reckon that a forward line of Jack/Griff/Westy would be a ripper..esp at Ethiad.

Yep, this myth was regurgitated yet again recently by Gerard Healy who cited Tambling as "yet another" example of a player who has improved in leaps and bounds since leaving Richmond and said it pointed to there being "cultural issues at that club which need to be addressed".

Ottens at Richmond - All-Australian
Ottens at Geelong - injury-prone, lost his kicking, "Leave him alone...all of you", 6 Brownlow votes in 6 years

But all of that is trumped (and skewed) by his two premierships.

I would be tempted to put Troy on the rookie list for the next couple of years as he is a talent and worth a rookie spot whilst he matures.

He's either in or out, no half measure for Richmond and no half measure for Troy, he's goneskies IMO.

We can't do this, That's why there is no point sacking him until the end of the year as we gain nothing from doing so earlier, If this were the case Brisbane would have taken advantage of it with the Fevola situation

This . He has played maybe 15 top quality games for Geelong , a few in finals which skews the view on him .

In my view his best footy was around 2001 when he was 20-21 years old before he got too big . He was 50-50 forward / ruck , had pace , marked well . I am pretty sure he was All australian with us or if not at least nominated .

Rodan has had one year at Port which was probably his best ever year . Apart from that inconsistent or injured.

The rest , nothing really . A few good games from Shultz but he played a few for us as well.

What a load of crap by Healy really.

Tambling at Richmond 2009: Games 20 Kicks 12.0 Disposals 21.4 Tackles: 3.2
Tambling at Adelaide 2011: Games 2 Kicks 11.0 Disposals: 18.5 Tackles: 2.5

Just because your team mates are better and the team is winning doesn't magically make you a better player

*smile* is a specialist full-forward who can't player anywhere else and is not nearly as good as Jack

Very disappointed to hear Benny Gale on SEN this arvo say that the club has compromised its standards to accommodate TT.

You just cannot have one set of rules for one player & one set for the rest.

Unfortunately it's bitten them on the arse.
At least they've admitted to the error.

But it already does. Players start pre-season at different times. DIfferent players have different training loads.

If you want to maximise the return of each player, you need to work out what works best for them and if it's possible, accomodate those individual needs.

Treating every player the same way is just working to an average at best, the lowest common denominator at worst. We don't want to be average.

Pretty sure Tommy means character and behavioural standards.
