Thomson Dow

The last 10 minutes of todays game highlighted this.
As others have said, with Tarranto, Hopper and now Dow we are in urgent need of leg speed out of the middle.
Perhaps we have Clarke who can play an outside mid role. Who else is there?
We definitely need more leg speed. Bolton always adds that extra dimension when he goes in the middle.

Butcher. This is the sort of player that we need to clear out if we are to improve going forward. If you can’t kick well there should not be a spot on our list.

Certainly deserves more game time

Dow:
Disposals 27
Disposal Effective 70%
Contest possession 13
Preserve acts 9
Tackles 2
Meters gain 176

Taranto
Disposals 19
Disposals effective 53%
Contest possession 9
Preserve acts 22
Tackles 3
Meters gain 366

Needs to work on his defences side which is not hard to do.

He's worked his way into the 22 and is levelling up. Still young and improving, and ahead of our other options. Which says everything about where the team is at.

Seven just posted 70% disposal efficiency. Must of mostly been handballs then.

Guessing u getting rid of Taranto too then.

8 kicks, 19 handballs, 13 contested, 13 uncontested , 19 effective disposals, 5 SI, 176 MG, 5 Centre clearances, 1 stoppage clearance
3 T/O’s, 7 clangers, 7 Intercepts, 2 tackles, 4 I50s, a couple of non chases.
A bit of a mixed bag. Did some good work, some not so good.
17 games played, not yet 22 years old. Just how much improvement in him is the big question.

An awful lot of out Hyde in Tivendale about Dow. To be fair there are a fair few on our list who are like that.

Cupboard is bare unfortunately

If Paddy leaves Carlton maybe the Blues would be interest in Thomno….

He def added to our midfield mix and was a reason we sq off in Centre clearance , his handball is very constructive, he’s a keeper , we looked better with him in the middle

Seriously? Taranto has a lot more strings to his bow than Dow. In the mix for AA this year and has been a very good player ever since he entered the league. Yes he needs to improve his kicking but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Dow is a plodder who likely does not have a whole lot upside from what we see now.

Dow is fools good unfortunately.
Not an AFL quality mid.
Will eventually go the way of RCD.
But because our cupboard is bare, we’ll persevere for another few years.

Just wondering if Taranto and Hoppers lower counts yesterday were a deliberate attempt to see if Dow could play longer stints in the middle.

I dont think it was a conincidence that both Hopper and Taranto looked to be going at 60%.

I am still not sold on Dow but at the most you are giving him 12 months.

If Tyler Sonsie was up and running , Dow would have his papers stamped.

I watched Taranto closely last week and thought he was playing injured. For an elite runner he is really labouring between contests.
