Thomson Dow

I try my best , as Dimma said in the 2016 pre season, how about we have players play to their strengths not focus on there flaws , Dow given the chance showed plenty that he could be a clearance player , we have SFA other options , no his not a great kick , but he wins his own ball in there , which amazingly means they don’t have the ball :)) , now if we ad some class with speed to the wings , Dow will become a vital cog in the midfield, unlike others we have who can’t get a go in the middle, Dow is clean and though not straight line quick, his nimble and evasive in tight .

If we move Dow on all it will mean is we have a late pick/ rookie spot , I’d rather keep Dow
Absolutely spot on.

Did well. Learnt from his bad chase which was highlighted. Wasted 4 years by not playing him for extended block.
We really need a offensive and defensive mid. Taranto and Hopper are below average defensively

He's certainly not a mid who can "rest forward" and make an impact. He's either in the centre or on the bench throughout a game -- at least at this stage.

Slooow. Can’t kick for *smile*. Woeful kick of the football. We have enough of those already.

If we’re relying on Dow to play in our midfield the next three years, then we aren’t playing finals football it’s as simple as that.
This is the truth. Credit to Dow because he has saved his AFL career the last couple of weeks but we have to do a lot better, especially in the key midfield role he is playing if we want to rise back up the ladder.

So true. Nothing surer, that we give him another year. I fear it will be two in classic Richmond style.

As long as we give this bloke a continuous run at AFL , instead of playing players who are past competing at AFL level - Edwards, Riewoldt we will be rewarded with a handy player.

I'm with you, but with our picks am worried the draft isn't deep enough to find better.
12 months if we can't find additional picks?

Agree.
Seriously what was Matthew Clarke thinking.

He is slow and cant kick.

Tigers need to do better or we are gonna be buried in the basement of the ladder for a fair while.

I seem to be agreeing with a few of your posts today haha.

If you can't kick as a mid, you need to be outstanding in other areas. You can get away with being an excellent clearance player and average in other areas but not poor. He's a poor kick, and he's also poor defensively. I don't think his qualities outweigh these 2 poor elements of his game.

I am not against given Dow another year.

However what it highlights is that we lack speed in our midfield. Too many one paced.

The last 10 minutes of todays game highlighted this.

As others have said, with Tarranto, Hopper and now Dow we are in urgent need of leg speed out of the middle.
Perhaps we have Clarke who can play an outside mid role. Who else is there?

I don't know where this lack of pace talk is coming from hes 3 seconds over 20 meters and has elite agility he just doesnt chase hard the other way

If we are to improve and develop Dow is not the sort of player we want out there. Just bog average.
