Thomson Dow

I could also ask, is he a better player than we think? The supporter view may differ from the club
I remember Taranto at the start of the year saying Dow is about to take the comp by storm. The way coaches talk about him, is like he just hasnt had enough games to grok the level. So there is surely something hes doing at training that looks great that he cant replicate on game day?

I guess someone needs to protect our kids at VFL level too.?.?
Dow needs protection & he's 23 going on into his sixth season. He's clearly the coach's pet. Even if the club wanted to keep he & flappers at the club, why not rookie them? Huge waste of a primary list spot IMO.

My fear is not so much how bad Dow is , but more that the coach and list managers can’t see this. We are embarrassing ourselves with this guy now entering his sixth year on our list .

In the absence of Baker, Bolton, and Dusty, I'm looking forward to seeing if he can rise to the challenge next year. Some stats for 2024:

- 50/50 split for contested/uncontested possessions (15.65 ave)

- 22% of all possessions are clearances

- Twice as many free kicks for than against

- Games played: 2, 5, 6, 4... 17

Come on don't destroy the kid, it's not like he has come into the best kid developing club in the comp.
From watching him his biggest weakness besides kicking is his lack of endurance.
He should be under Lambert and he should be doing non stop running sessions over the summer.

no mate he's had five years and he still hasn't built himself up physically. That's a cop out line and he's actually not a kid as he's entering his sixth year in the sytstem.

His kicking negates any stat improvement he might have.

Top 3 worst kicks in the comp - Tsatas, P Dow, T Dow.

He's about as one sided a player as I've seen in a while. Has zero ability on the left foot.
This is why so many of his kicks are either under pressure or he picks a poor handball option.
He's constantly looking for other options to avoid his weakness. At AFL level he comes undone.
Agree that it's insurmountable. Improvements will be minuscule.
