Thomson Dow

I watched him running for the ball and he was so lumbery I thought it was David Honeybun.

He's pedestrian. A terrible kick and he doesn't have enough other strings to cover his deficiencies. Will be lucky to avoid delisting.

Unfortunately today a few times he was walking while the North mids were running hard forward. I reckon it must be a lack of a decent tank because he must be trying with his career on the line.

Seemed to be content to spectate for much of the second half. Maybe some of the first. It looked like immaturity. He's 21yo.

Looked a delist at times. Maybe he can only run 10kms? Mini is a standards guy.

I'll be interested to see how he handles this.
Rubber necking in the 2nd half.
not good enough.
he’s years in the system now.
move on.

Wow. Thought he was ok in first half. Yes quite in 2nd half but he was a junior back seat passenger to the finally of the 2 super stars today. Give the kid a break and let's see what he has got next year

We’re so tough on AFL footballers. Thomson is within touching distance of being a game breaking AFL footballer, but , like so many terrific young footballers, will probably not bridge the gap.
I understand why some would like to see if he can elevate his game, some of what he does is quite tantalising, but he has flaws in his game that probably suggest he won’t make it.
Early days I thought he could be a Shed style creative marvel, but I now think there are too many deficiencies in his game for him to make it at the top level.
Would love to see him iron out a few wrinkles in his game and become a solid AFL contributor, but think it’s unlikely.

For me I'd only delist when the graph either plateaus or starts to taper off. He's looked like he's still got improvement in him.

With Riewoldt, Cotchin, Castagna, Tarrant gone.
The following as free agents: Biggy Nyuon (delist), Kamydn (delist/trade)
These out of contract: Graham (trade), Ralphsmith (trade/delist), Colina (delist), Mansell (re-sign), Seth Campbell (re-rookie), Pickett (Option extended?),
Nankervis (re-signed already?), Bradtke (potential de-list).

That's way more potentially off than we have draft picks (currently) to replace. I'd give Dow 12 months, most likely as a Rookie.

Will never be the answer with his average foot skills , however with our list where it is , I think his shown enough of a glimpse to get another pre season to bulk up and work on the tank , I think we are a tad harsh on his athleticism, has a nice ellusive first step , think he’d benefit greatly from some more mass .

Gets another year for me

He's been the one given a go in the last two games. What's that say for our youngster depth? Big worry.
Might simply be that as he's been on the list longer than a few other kids we need to look at him a bit closer before making a decision. Was playing well as a mid in the magoos so give him the last 3 career deciding games of the year at seniors.
Do we see enough to keep him for another year or two?
Does another club get to see enough to think he's got some trade value?
Do we cut our losses and let him go?

Might be but if so bit unfair to call his career on 3 games at the end of the season with the Tigers playing very poor footy. Personally I don't think he's good enough, plays outside mid and just isn't creative or skilled enough for that role at AFL level. He won't have any trade value, he's uncontracted and has played 16 games in 4 years (5 in and out as sub) .

Going to be interesting decisions made with many uncontracted players atm and a new incoming coach.

Yes herein lies the issue. Team too old, have to offload at once, therefore have to keep younger players quite obviously not going to make it. Will take a few years to balance our list again.
